Description

The DSC PG9312 Wireless PowerG Outdoor Door and Window Contact allows you to monitor the status of an outside door, window, fence or gate. This is perfect for environments that are not suitable for indoor-only contact sensors. The device is easy to use and program with a security system.

Like any contact sensor, the magnet should be mounted as close to the sensor as possible when the door, window, fence or gate is closed. As an outdoor contact sensor, the PG9312 will allow for a larger-than-average spacing gap. But placing the magnet too far from the sensor will have the system think the structure is opened, even when it is actually closed. Remember, the magnet should go on the moving part of the structure, while the sensor should go on the adjacent frame.

The maximum gap allowance between the sensor and magnet is 1.75" when installed on non-metal surfaces and 1.25" when installed on metal surfaces. If mounting to a round pole, you can use straps (not included) to complete the install. Also check that the sensor is properly aligned so that the internal reed switch is facing the magnet. Make sure to test the sensor after installation and programming. This is very important for ensuring that the device is working correctly.

Another feature of the PG9312 is to serve as a wireless transmitter for a single hardwired contact sensor. For transient voltage protection from things like lightning, it may be best to use a Form C contact (Normally Open or Normally Closed). Both the Normally Open and Normally Closed Terminals should be connected to one side of the input on the PG9312. The connection between the PG9312 and the hardwired contact should be no more than three (3) feet for UL/cUL installations. The connection should be no more than ten (10) feet under any circumstances. You can also connect an optional end of line resistor (EOLR) for supervision. The PG9312 uses a 5.6K Ohm 1/2 watt resistor, color code Green, Blue, Red, Gold.

The DSC PG9312 is a wireless PowerG Sensor that works with DSC PowerSeries NEO Systems (wireless transceiver required) and Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus Systems (Firmware Version 2.4.0 and higher required). We recommend auto-enrolling the sensor to ensure that it communicates properly. The device uses two (2) AA batteries (included) for power. The sensor is designed to withstand the dust, moisture, wind and extreme temperatures found in an outdoor environment.

NOTE: There is a compatibility issue between the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus Systems and the DSC PG9312 Sensor. The sensor will not work with a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus running lower than Firmware Version 2.4.0. This Firmware Update was released in September 2019. You can learn about this Firmware Update here.
