Description

The Yale YRD220 is a Z-Wave® touchscreen deadbolt lock that is very similar to the YRD210 push button deadbolt lock. However, instead of the durable push button keypad found on the YRD210, the Yale Real Living™ YRD220 has a sleek acrylic touchscreen keypad which will impress all of your friends and neighbors. Of course, just like the YRD210, the touchscreen deadbolt lock is also available in your choice of finish. You can choose the permanent oil rubbed bronze for a rustic look, the polished brass finish for a more classic look or the satin nickel finish for a dull metallic look (shown in picture). The advanced touchscreen display paired with the right finish for your door will greatly improve the overall look of your home’s doors.

The YRD220 touchscreen deadbolt lock has Z-Wave functionality so that it can be controlled by a Z-Wave home automation controller. If you have a VISTA Series alarm control panel, you can add a Tuxedo Touch or Tuxedo Touch WIFI touchscreen keypad to control your Yale deadbolt lock remotely with the touch of a button from your Tuxedo keypad. Of course, as both Tuxedo Touch keypads can act as standalone home automation controllers, you can use the YRD220 deadbolt lock even if you don’t have a Honeywell security system. Unfortunately, remote home automation control using Honeywell’s Total Connect 2.0 interactive service is not compatible with the VISTA Series alarm control panels so you will only be able to lock or unlock your Yale Z-Wave lock from the actual lock or from your Tuxedo Touch keypad. However, if you have the L5100 LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel and you have upgraded it with the L5100-ZWAVE home automation controller, you will be able to remotely lock and unlock your doors using the YRD220 and a Total Connect 2.0 account. Simply click on the lock icon through your Total Connect account, and the deadbolt will physically lock or unlock so that you can provide someone access to your home even when you are not there.

There are numerous applications where the YRD220 Z-Wave touchscreen deadbolt can enhance your lifestyle. If your teenager forgot their keys at school, you can simply unlock the door from your iPhone instead of them having to go all the way back to school to retrieve their keys. If your cleaning person comes every Tuesday at 10AM, you no longer have to entrust them with a spare key. You can simply ask them to call you when they are outside your home and, after logging into your Total Connect 2.0 account from your computer, you can unlock the door for them. If you are away on vacation and your neighbor is taking care of your pet, you can have them text you when they need to get in so that you can unlock your door for them from anywhere you have cellular service. The Yale touchscreen deadbolt locks are also great for supervising when your home is being accessed. You can have your Total Connect 2.0 account setup to send you a text message every time the YRD220 is locked or unlocked. Now you can keep tabs on your rebellious teenager, small children or your elderly family members. If you pair your Yale Real Living locks with other home automation devices, you can even use the lock to trigger other home automation events such as turning lights on or off or setting your thermostat to a certain temperature. Upgrade your L5100 LYNX Touch wireless security system with up to (4) Yale Z-Wave touchscreen locks to make your life easier and more manageable.

In addition to the great home automation features available with the Yale YRD220, the touchscreen deadbolt lock also has some great design functions incorporated into the lock itself. The touchscreen display is illuminated for easy access at night. Also, the deadbolt lock is compatible with nearly all doors and it is certified by ANSI/BHMA (Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association) as an A156.36, Grade 2 lock so you know that it’s as secure as it is functional.

Nice Touchscreen Lock!
Submitted on 05/14/2020 Alarm Grid

The Yale YRD220 is a Z-Wave Plus touchscreen lock that provides protection and security for a home or business. The lock has a sleek design that fits in nicely with any modern decor, and it certainly provides the aesthetic touch that many users are looking for. Installing the YRD220 and enrolling it with a Z-Wave hub is a great way to make your life more convenient, as you can control the lock remotely using an app like Total Connect 2.0 or Alarm.com. As a Z-Wave Plus device, the Yale YRD220 is both versatile and reliable. This makes it a great addition to nearly any smart home. We give the Yale YRD220 a 5 Star rating.

There are many things we like about the Yale YRD220. It is a Z-Wave Plus lock, which gives it improved range and battery life when paired with a certified Z-Wave Plus controller. The lock works with nearly any Z-Wave or Z-Wave Plus controller, making it very versatile. We are big fans of the acrylic touchscreen, which provides the lock with a sleek look that is sure to impress. The lock does a great job of keeping the building secured. And we really appreciate the different finishing options so that users can add a nice personal touch.

The biggest downside to the Yale YRD220 is that it has been discontinued, so you are unlikely to find a new model anywhere. But if you find a used model, then it should still work just fine. Also, there is the matter that the lock will need to be physically installed. This is the case for any door lock, so keep that in mind. The installation is fairly easy for a DIYer, though you will need some tools. Overall, these downsides a very minor, and they do not stop the YRD220 from earning 5 Stars.

Good: Z-Wave Plus, Versatile, Touchscreen, Sleek Appearance, Secure, Finishing Options

Bad: Discontinued, Must Be Installed

Bottom Line: 5 Stars

I just paired my 7+ year old Yale YRD220 lock with zwave module with a brand new 2nd gen Ring alarm system (with equally old 1st gen doorbell). I have a huge appreciation for any company that creates electronic products that stand the test of time. Samsung tried to make me buy a new Smartthings hub; instead I eliminated the need for their hub.
Yes, we do plan to offer it once it's released.
@sterlingdonnelly will you be carrying the soon-to-be-released august lock pro which supports zwave? Pls say yes...its a dealer only offering.
