Replaced by LTE Communicators

The Honeywell GSMVLP4G is an old cellular communicator for the Honeywell L3000 Systems. This communicator works across the AT&T 4G Network, and it allows the system to work with Total Connect 2.0. However, this communicator has since been discontinued in favor of newer and more-advanced LTE communicators. You can no longer activate a GSMVLP4G for monitoring service. If you already have this module activated, then it will continue to work until the associated cellular network is shutdown. But you should be upgrading to LTE as soon as possible. That is why we can only give the Honeywell GSMVLP4G a 3 Star Rating.

Adding a cellular communicator to your alarm system is extremely important. This is the best way to ensure that your system can send and receive signals reliably. Cellular is much more consistent than IP, and a good cellular connection will almost never go down or become unavailable for an extended period of time. With that in mind, it was very exciting news when Honeywell L3000 users had a good cellular communicator that became available to them. But the GSMVLP4G was released before the widespread introduction of LTE networks. Although the GSMVLP4G was a great cellular communicator for its time, it is no longer the best option available.

If you already have a Honeywell GSMVLP4G installed and activated, then you can continue to use it until AT&T shuts down their 4G network in the coming years. But if you are in the market for a new cellular communicator for an L3000 System, then you should definitely get an LTE module instead. AT&T will no longer allow you to activate the GSMVLP4G, as its network is going to be shut down in the coming years. But the LTE networks will remain in service well into the very distant future. For an L3000, you can choose between a Honeywell LTE-L3V for Verizon LTE, or the Honeywell LTE-L3A for AT&T LTE.

Bottom line, the GSMVLP4G can no longer be activated for monitoring service. You should get an LTE communicator to extend the life of your L3000 System. For that reason, we can only give the GSMVLP4G 3 Stars. Both the LTE-L3V and LTE-L3A will allow for the use of Total Connect 2.0 for remote access to the system. Remember, you will need a Gold Plan or higher if you plan to use a cellular communicator with Alarm Grid.
