How Do I Change the Global Input Mode on the IQ Panel 5?

To change the Global Input Mode on the IQ Panel 5, swipe down and touch Settings, then Advanced Settings, and enter your Installer Code. Next, touch Installation, then Installer Settings, and set the Global Input Mode to Normally Closed, End of Line, or Double End of Line for your zones.

About the Global Input Mode

The Global Input Mode on the IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) sets the end-of-line supervision type used by every hardwired zone whose own Input Mode is set to Global. In other words, it is the master wiring style those zones follow, so you can set the supervision once instead of configuring each zone individually. It applies to hardwired zones brought in through a wired-to-wireless converter or hardwire expander on your security system.

There are three choices. Normally Closed uses no resistor and simply watches for the loop to open. End of Line, the default, uses a single end-of-line resistor so the panel can tell a normal open from a cut or shorted wire. Double End of Line uses two resistors to distinguish an alarm from a tamper or fault on the same loop, which is the most supervised option. Your choice should match how the zones are physically wired.

Before You Begin

The Global Input Mode is in the Installer Settings, which require the Installer Code (1111 by default) or Dealer Code (2222 by default). The steps below use the Installer Code. This setting only affects hardwired zones that have their Input Mode set to Global, so zones set to a specific mode of their own are not changed by it. Make sure your resistor wiring matches the mode you pick.

Change the Global Input Mode

  1. Swipe down and touch Settings. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Settings Tray, then touch SETTINGS.

  2. Touch Advanced Settings and enter your Installer Code. Touch ADVANCED SETTINGS, then enter your Installer Code (1111 by default). The Dealer Code (2222) works here too. The panel advances automatically after a valid code.

  3. Touch Installation, then Installer Settings. Touch INSTALLATION, then open INSTALLER SETTINGS and find the Global Input Mode setting.

Open Installer Settings and find Global Input Mode.
  4. Choose the input mode. Touch Global Input Mode and select Normally Closed, End of Line, or Double End of Line. The mode you pick applies to every hardwired zone set to Global, so confirm it matches your wiring.

Choose Normally Closed, End of Line, or Double End of Line.

Tips

Match the Global Input Mode to the resistors actually installed on your zones, since a mismatch can cause false troubles or keep a zone from tripping correctly. End of Line is the standard choice and the default for most installs, while Double End of Line is used when you want the panel to distinguish an alarm from a tamper on the same two wires. If only some of your hardwired zones should use this setting, leave those on Global and set any exceptions to their own input mode individually.

Changing the Global Input Mode on the IQ Panel 5 sets the supervision style for your Global hardwired zones in one place.
