How Do I Change the Smoke Detector Siren on IQ Panel 5?
To change the PowerG Smoke Detector Siren setting on the IQ Panel 5, go to Advanced Settings, Installation, Sirens and Alarms, then find PowerG Smoke Detector Siren. Choose Fire Alarms Only or All Alarms to set exactly when your smoke detectors actually sound off entirely right away.
What This Setting Controls
The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) lets you decide whether enrolled PowerG smoke detectors sound only during actual fire events, or during any alarm event on the system. With the default Fire Alarms Only setting, a smoke detector's built-in siren only activates when that specific detector senses smoke or heat. With All Alarms selected instead, every enrolled PowerG smoke detector acts as an additional wireless siren, sounding during burglary alarms, panic alarms, or any other alarm event, not just fire.
This effectively lets you turn your smoke detectors into extra siren coverage throughout the house. If your main panel siren isn't loud enough to wake someone in a distant bedroom, having every smoke detector also sound during a burglary alarm can make a real difference in how quickly someone notices an event happening anywhere on the security system.

6. Touch Sirens and Alarms. This opens the list of siren and panic-related settings, including Police Panic, Fire Panic, Auxiliary Panic, and PowerG Smoke Detector Siren.
7. Find PowerG Smoke Detector Siren in the list. This setting defaults to Fire Alarms Only.
8. Choose Fire Alarms Only or All Alarms. Fire Alarms Only means smoke detectors sound only during fire events. All Alarms means they sound during any alarm event on the system.
Why You Might Switch to All Alarms
Larger homes or homes with distant bedrooms are the most common reason to switch this setting. If a burglary alarm triggers while everyone is asleep upstairs and the panel is downstairs, hearing the panel's siren alone might not be enough. Since smoke detectors are typically spread throughout a home, including bedrooms and hallways, setting them to All Alarms turns every one of them into a local siren, dramatically improving how quickly a household notices any alarm event, not just fire.
Why the Default Might Be Right for You Instead
Fire Alarms Only keeps the alarm sound specific to the event type, which some households prefer since a smoke detector sounding usually means something more urgent than a general burglary alarm. If your main panel siren and any dedicated siren accessories already provide sufficient coverage throughout your home, there may be little practical benefit to enabling All Alarms, and keeping smoke detectors dedicated to fire events avoids any confusion about what kind of alarm is actually happening when you hear one going off.
If the Setting Doesn't Seem to Apply
This setting only affects PowerG smoke detectors that are actually enrolled on your system, so confirm you have at least one added before expecting to hear a difference. If you change to All Alarms and don't notice detectors sounding during a test alarm, confirm the change actually saved before backing out of Sirens and Alarms, and remember that monitoring test mode may suppress audible sirens during certain test procedures, which could explain why a test doesn't sound the way a real alarm would.
This Applies to Every Enrolled Smoke Detector at Once
This is a single, system-wide toggle rather than something configured per individual smoke detector, so switching to All Alarms applies to every PowerG smoke detector enrolled on your system simultaneously. If you have detectors spread across multiple floors or in several bedrooms, you don't need to configure each one separately, they'll all switch behavior together the moment you change this one setting. This also means you can't currently set some detectors to Fire Alarms Only while others are set to All Alarms, since the setting applies uniformly across your entire installation rather than per device.
Changing the PowerG Smoke Detector Siren setting on the IQ Panel 5 lets you decide whether your smoke detectors serve as extra sirens for every alarm type on the IQ Panel 5.
