How Do I Enable Other Automation on the IQ Panel 5 System?

To enable Other Automation on the IQ Panel 5, swipe down and touch Settings, then Advanced Settings, and enter your Installer Code. Next, touch Installation, then Installer Settings, and enable Other Automation to add support for Zigbee automation devices and Deako lighting on the panel.

About Other Automation

By default, the IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) handles automation through protocols like Z-Wave. The Other Automation setting expands that to two additional integrations: Zigbee automation devices and Deako lighting. When you enable it, an Other Automation icon appears under the Devices icon, and that is where you add these devices to your security system.

Other Automation is disabled by default, so the icon and these integrations stay hidden until you turn it on. One important requirement applies to Zigbee: the panel must have a Zigbee daughter card installed for Zigbee devices to work, so if your panel was not ordered with that card, Zigbee will not be available even with this setting on. Deako lighting does not require the Zigbee card.

Before You Begin

Other Automation is in the Installer Settings, which require the Installer Code (1111 by default) or Dealer Code (2222 by default). The steps below use the Installer Code. If you plan to use Zigbee devices, confirm your panel has the Zigbee daughter card first, since this setting enables the feature but cannot add hardware the panel does not have.

Enable Other Automation

  1. Swipe down and touch Settings. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Settings Tray, then touch SETTINGS.

  2. Touch Advanced Settings and enter your Installer Code. Touch ADVANCED SETTINGS, then enter your Installer Code (1111 by default). The Dealer Code (2222) works here too. The panel advances automatically after a valid code.

Tips

Once Other Automation is on, look for the new Other Automation icon under the Devices icon to add your Zigbee or Deako devices; the setting itself does not add any devices, it just makes the option available. Zigbee is the piece that needs the daughter card, so if your Zigbee devices will not enroll, the missing card is the most likely reason. Deako lighting is a connected, modular light-switch system, so it is worth confirming your fixtures are Deako compatible before relying on that integration.

Enabling Other Automation on the IQ Panel 5 opens up Zigbee and Deako lighting support on the panel.
