Description

The Honeywell 944T is a wired 3/8” diameter recessed door or window contact with screw terminals instead of leads. The 944T is ideal for all hardwired security systems and compatible with Honeywell’s VISTA series of wired alarm panels. Unlike surface mount contacts, the 944T is recessed into the door and door frame, or window and window frame.

In order to install the 944T, you must drill a 3/8” diameter hole into the frame and door or window that is at least 1.5” in depth and match up to each other when the window or door is closed. The 944T contact is then recessed into the door or window frame, and the matching magnet is recessed into the door or window itself, opposite the contact. The 944T should be installed in an area with a gap no wider than 3/4” to ensure that contact is made when the door or window is closed. The 944T is also equipped with Honeywell’s exclusive Staggered “T” terminals which make installation a breeze. The terminals eliminate splice and solder and are compatible with a standard sized screw driver.

The 944T recessed contact is ideal for installations where you want no signs of security devices, as they require more work to install, but are invisible once properly set up. The Honeywell 944T replaces part numbers: Sentrol 1125T, GRI2020T, Aleph DC-3621, and Tane-3/8T.

Great Wired Recessed Sensor!
Submitted on 05/28/2020 Alarm Grid

The Honeywell 944T is a hardwired recessed door and window contact sensor with screw terminals for connecting wires. The sensor is 3/8" in diameter, and it will stay hidden with your door or window is closed. This is a very straightforward and simple recessed sensor if you are looking for a hardwired option. You can certainly count on it to monitor a door or window with very little fuss or inconvenience. That is why we give the Honeywell 944T a 5 Star rating.

There are many things to like about the Honeywell 944T. For one, it will be completely out of sight when the door or window is closed. The sensor includes screw terminals instead of leads, which some installers may prefer. Since this is a wired contact sensor, it will not draw any power from the panel. And like any Honeywell product, the 944T has an outstanding build quality. You can certainly expect it to last a long time. We also like the fact that the sensor has great versatility, as nearly any wired panel or wired to wireless converter will support the device.

There are few downsides to the Honeywell 944T. Since this is a recessed sensor, you will need to drill holes into the door or window and its accompanying frame. Most DIY installers just get surface-mounted contacts to skip this step. And since the sensor is wired, you will also need to run a wire from the panel to the sensor. Again, this can be troubling for a DIY installer. But if a 3/8" recessed hardwired door and window sensor is what you need, then you really cannot go wrong with the Honeywell 944T. For that reason, it gets a 5 Star rating from Alarm Grid.

Good: Sensor is Hidden, Screw Terminals, No Power Draw, Great Build Quality, Versatile

Bad: Must Drill Holes, Must Wired to Panel

Bottom Line: 5 Stars

Hey Jane, The only way to remove the sensor from the door is to use a flat head screwdriver or putty knife to pry up the edges loosening the magnet to allow you to pull it from the recessed hole.
HOW DO we get the old magnet out of door?
Hi Brett, Have you confirmed the 2k resistor is inline with the black or red wire? Also, was the 2k resistor removed when the wire was cut?
Thanks. Just curious while troubleshooting. The panel isn’t reporting activity to the door opening or closing. It reports opening when the sensor was removed and closed when it’s reconnected but no supervisory activity. My front was just replaced and the wire to the sensor had to cut to remove it. It’s 4 conductor wire but only the red and black are connected in the panel. The yellow and green are dead ended in the panel. I thought it would be an easy restoration. Any suggestions?
No, usually the required resistor comes with the alarm panel, not with the contact. The 944T could be used on pretty much any Alarm Panel, and they don't all use 2k resistors, so including one with it would be a waste in many instances.
Does the 944T include an EOL 2k ohm resistor?
It does not matter which side but remember which is the “low” side of the zone, and which is the “high” side of the zone to wire it in a certain way.
Which side of contact takes red wire and which green
Unfortunately we do not.
Does the 944T come in brown?
I'm not familiar with the 20R-TO-NO but this is a standard wired recessed alarm contact and magnet.
looking at the 944T to replace a sensor that is 20R-T-NO
