Description

The Honeywell K14207LF is an AlarmNet MMCX to SMA adapter cable used with AlarmNet cellular alarm monitoring communicators and dual path alarm monitoring communicators that need an external antenna to improve their cellular reception. The AlarmNet K14207LF adapter cable is included with the purchase of a GSM-ANT or GSM-ANT3DB external antenna so this cable should only be purchased if you have broken your original K14207LF cable.

AlarmNet dual path and cellular alarm monitoring communicators utilize AT&T’s wireless GSM network to send alarm signals to Alarm Grid’s central station. You can use the AT&T coverage viewer on AT&T's website to see if your address has adequate cellular GSM coverage. However, sometimes your address can show AT&T coverage but your AlarmNet alarm monitoring communicator will still have problems connecting to the network. When this happens, your only options are to relocate the cellular alarm monitoring communicator or add an external antenna. When you have a wireless alarm control panel like the L3000 LYNX Plus, it is easy to relocate the panel so that the GSMVLP cellular alarm monitoring communicator which fits inside the LYNX Plus panel has a better cellular reception point. Unfortunately, when you have a hardwired alarm control panel like the VISTA-20P, it is often impossible to relocate the panel. Luckily the GSMX and GSMV cellular alarm communicators that are compatible with the VISTA-20P can be installed in a different location than the VISTA-20P alarm control panel. For best cellular reception, you should mount your AlarmNet dual path or cellular alarm monitoring communicator on an exterior wall at the highest point possible. When you have tried all possible locations within your home and you are still not getting adequate cellular reception, you will need to add the GSM-ANT3DB weatherproof external antenna which can be installed on the outside of your home. The GSM-ANT3DB also increases the gain of the cellular GSM antenna by a factor of (3) so that your cellular alarm communicator has a much better chance of connecting to the AT&T cellular tower in your area. When adding the GSM-ANT3DB, you will need to connect the K14207LF adapter cable to the internal antenna of the cellular alarm communicator.

The AlarmNet K14207LF adapter cable has a MMCX connector on one end and a SMA connector on the other end. You will need to first remove the plastic plug from the SMA mounting hole which is found at the top of the plastic enclosure housing your AlarmNet alarm communicator, directly above the external antenna port. Next, you will need to secure the SMA connector to the plastic enclosure using the included nut. Once the SMA connector of the K14207LF is secure, you will need to plug the SMA connector into the SMA plug on your cellular alarm communicator’s internal antenna board. Be very careful when connecting the SMA connector as there is a delicate pin that can bend or break if installed at the wrong angle. If the pin breaks, your external GSM antenna will no longer work properly. With the K14207LF adapter cable properly installed, you can finally connect the GSM-ANT external antenna or the WA7626-CA adapter cable if you will be using the GSM-ANT3DB weatherproof external antenna.
