How Do I Change to 6-Digit User Codes on the IQ5 Hub System?

To change to 6-digit user codes on the IQ5 Hub, swipe down and touch Settings, then Advanced Settings, and enter your Installer Code. Next, touch Installation, then Installer Settings, and enable the 6 Digit User Code setting. A 00 is then appended to each of your existing 4-digit codes.

About 6-Digit User Codes

The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) uses 4-digit codes by default, but it has a global setting that switches every code on the panel to 6 digits. Longer codes add more possible combinations, which some people prefer for extra security, and 6-digit codes are also required if you plan to enable Control4 integration with your security system. It is a single toggle that applies to all codes at once.

The most important thing to know is what happens to your current codes. When you enable the setting, the panel appends a 00 to the end of every existing 4-digit code, so your Master Code of 1234 becomes 123400, the Installer Code 1111 becomes 111100, and so on. Nothing is erased; each code simply gains two zeros at the end. You can then edit any code to something else through user management if you want a different 6-digit number.

Before You Begin

This setting is in the Installer Settings, which require the Installer Code (1111 by default) or Dealer Code (2222 by default). The steps below use the Installer Code. Before enabling it, let everyone who uses the system know their code is about to gain a 00 on the end, so no one is locked out at the keypad. Write down the new 6-digit versions of your codes if that helps.

Change to 6-Digit User Codes

1. Swipe down and touch Settings. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Settings Tray, then touch SETTINGS.

2. Touch Advanced Settings and enter your Installer Code. Touch ADVANCED SETTINGS, then enter your Installer Code (1111 by default). The Dealer Code (2222) works here too. The panel advances automatically after a valid code.

3. Touch Installation. On the Advanced Settings menu, touch INSTALLATION to open the installer-level configuration.

4. Open Installer Settings. Touch INSTALLER SETTINGS to open the panel's programming list, then scroll to find the 6 Digit User Code setting.

5. Enable 6 Digit User Code. Turn on the 6 Digit User Code setting. The panel switches all codes to 6 digits and appends a 00 to each existing 4-digit code, so your codes now include those two extra zeros.

Tips

After enabling the setting, test your new 6-digit Master Code at the panel right away so you know the change took effect, then update any codes you would rather set to a specific 6-digit number. With 6-digit codes the panel supports up to 999,998 combinations, though 000000 and 000001 are not allowed. If you ever switch back to 4-digit codes, plan to review your codes again, since the format change affects every code on the system at once.
