GENERAL INFORMATION:
The No. 710 Unistrobe Warning L i g h t can be i n s t a l l e d indoors o r o u t s i d e t o p r o v i d e b r i l l i a n t , a t t e n t i o n - g e t t i n g flashes o f l i g h t upon a c t i v a t i o n from t h e alarm s y s t e m " b e l l " t e r m i n a l s o r o t h e r switched v o l t a g e source.

Connect a #22 w i r e t o each t e r m i n a l o f t h e switch. I n s e r t s w i t c h i n t h e tamper s w i t c h opening provided i n t h e base of t h e u n i t , w i t h i t s t e r m i n a l s f a c i n g i n t o t h e opening and w i r e s e x i t i n g a t t h e corner o f t h e opening. Snap s w i t c h i n t o place. Use Diagram I i n c o n j u n c t i o n w i t h t h e a p p r o p r i a t e mounting procedure described below. Note: Observe p o l a r i t y w i t h t h e RED ( + ) and BLACK ( - ) leads. The u n i t w i l l n o t operate w i t h reverse p o l a r i t y .

WIRING:

Connect w i r i n g as described under WIRING and as shown i n Diagram 1 . P o s i t i o n u n i t so t h a t i t s "tamper s w i t c h corner " i s a t lower l e f t when See Diagram 2. u n i t i s viewed from t h e f r o n t .

3 . Place a 3/4 #8-32 Machine Screw ( n o t provided) through h o l e A1 a t t h e
"tamper s w i t c h corner" and ( i f a tamper s w i t c h i s being used) through Thread t h e screw i n t o t h e h o l e the 'hole i n t h e tamper p l a t e provided. Before t i g h t e n i n g , p o s i t i o n t h e tamper a t t h e c o r n e r o f t h e o u t l e t box. p l a t e ( i f used) under t h e base of t h e No. 710 and then t i g h t e n t h e screw.

Place a s i m i l a r screw through d i a g o n a l l y o p p o s i t e h o l e A2 and f a s t e n t h a t corner t o t h e o u t l e t b o x . I n s e r t p l a s t i c Decor Pluqs (provided) i n t o t h e two f r o n t mounting holes of u n i t .

Use Diagram 2 TempIate t o l o c a t e h o l e s f o r d r i l l i n g i n t h e mounting sur face, as f o l l o w s : a. For F r o n t Mounting: D r i l l mounting h o l e s a t A l and A2 as r e q u i r e d (two #8 s e l f - t a p p i n g screws accompany u n i t ) and c u t a w i r i n g h o l e (1/2" minimum d i a m e t e r ) a t C. For Rear Mounting: D r i l l 3/16" diameter h o l e s a t B I and B2 ( t o c l e a r #8 s e l f - t a p p i n g screws p r o v i d e d ) and c u t a w i r i n g h o l e (1/2" minimum) a t C.

P o s i t i o n u n i t so t h a t " tamper s w i t c h c o r n e r " i s a t lower l e f t when u n i t i s viewed from f r o n t . Mount u n i t . The #8 s e l f - t a p p i n g screws p r o v i d e d may be used f o r f r o n t mounting (''A" h o l e s ) o r r e a r mounting ("B" h o l e s ) . I n s e r t p l a s t i c Decor Plugs ( p r o v i d e d ) i n t o t h e two f r o n t mounting holes of unit.

TROUBLE:

I . THE STROBE LIGHT FAILS TO WORK.
PROBABLE CAUSE

REMEDY
A. Repair disconnected, shorted, o r reversed leads t o t h e strobe, Check power source c o n d i t i o n by r e f e r r i n g t o Section L o f t h i s manual.

A. Power source p o l a r i t y reversed, disconnected, shorted, o r weak (on alarm, t h e u n i t should r e c e i v e between 5 and 15 V . DC f r o m the control's b e l l terminals. Check presence o f t h i s voltage with p o l a r i t y correct a t both t h e c o n t r o l panel o u t p u t and t h e red and b l a c k wires t o t h e strobe l i g h t ) . 6. D e f e c t i v e b u l b or strobe lamp internal c i r c u i t r y .
TROUBLE:

B. U n i t must be r e t u r n e d t o Ademco f o r repair.

2. PROTECTIVE CIRCUIT DOES NOT OPERATE NORMALLY WHEN USED T TAMPERO PROOF THE STROBE LIGHT.
PROBABLE CAUSE
A.

REMEDY
A . Replace switch w i t h c o r r e c t type.

I n c o r r e c t use o f tamper switch. LUse No. 112 f o r c l o s e d - c i r c u i t c u r r e n t - c a r r y i n g p r o t e c t i v e loops. T h i s switch i s NORMALLY OPEN. (N.O.) Use No. 113 f o r o p e n - c i r c u i t types of p r o t e c t i v e loops. T h i s s w i t c h i s normal l y closed (N.C. I].

6. Breaks or s h o r t s i n t h e w i r i n g t o t h e tamper s w i t c h (check w i r i n g w i t h an ohmmeter f o r c o n t i n u i t y and/or s h o r t c i r c u i t s ) .
