The DSC AMB-600 Addressable Pet Friendly PIR Motion Detector is designed to monitor a building for the presence of motion. This is a hardwired sensor that provides pet immunity for animals weighing up to 85 pounds. It connects to the security panel with an addressable two-wire connection.
As a sensor, the AMB-600 functions like most other passive infrared (PIR) motion detectors. The device actively looks for changes in infrared energy that occur with motion. The sensor uses multi-level signal processing to distinguish between the energy signatures of humans and alternative energy signatures. If the device detects movement from a human body, it will send an alert to the alarm system. The device has a maximum detection range of 40 feet.
The AMB-600 also includes a lens with a multi-beam design, and it features two integrated dual-element sensors. The device provides temperature compensation, and it should accurately detect movement when the ambient temperature is near that of a person. An LED light for displaying activity can be toggled with an on-board jumper. A tamper switch will alert the system if anyone tries to open up or disable the sensor while the system is armed.
Both wall-mount and ceiling-mount brackets are available for easy installation. For best results, the sensor should not be aimed towards reflective surfaces, areas with high air flow, direct sunlight or large obstacles. Please note that this is an addressable sensor, and it will need to be wired accordingly to achieve the desired function.
