Description

The Honeywell DT8050M Dual Tec Motion Sensor provides effective and reliable detection across its complete coverage area. This wired motion sensor uses mirror optics for improved accuracy and reduced false alarms. It uses both PIR detection and microwave detection for added reliability.

The DT8050M will only cause a system alarm if both its PIR sensor and its microwave sensor are activated. By requiring this dual verification, the dual-tech sensor can go a long way towards reducing false alarms. The PIR sensor in the DT8050M checks for changes in infrared energy that occur when a person or object comes into its field of view. The microwave sensor sends out signals that bounce of objects. Based on the pattern of these signals, the sensor can determine if motion is present in the area. The sensitivity of both these sensors can be individually adjusted. For the PIR sensor, this is done by raising or lowering the pulse count. The microwave sensor can have its range increased or decreased.

When mounted properly, the DT8050M will offer a coverage area of up to 53 feet by 72 feet. The sensor should be mounted at the recommended height of 7'6" to achieve this maximum area. However, the device can be mounted between 6'9" and 8'9" and work just fine. An LED light on the sensor can assist the user with testing and troubleshooting when needed. The zero-clearance bug guard keeps insects out so that the sensor is not affected by their presence. A fresnel lens is used with the DT8050M it ensure consistent detection across the coverage area. Dual slope temperature compensation keeps the PIR sensor working regardless of the ambient temperature. Please note that this is hardwired motion sensor.

Note: A version of this sensor with an anti-masking feature called the DT8050A is also available.
