Alarm.com ADC-S2000-T-RB
Wireless Temperature Sensor for T3000 and T2000
Description
The Alarm.com ADC-S2000-T-RB is a remote temperature sensor that is integrated with an Alarm.com ADC-T3000 or ADC-T2000 Smart Thermostat. The ADC-S2000-T-RB should be installed in a different part of the building so that it can report the temperature for that area back to the thermostat.
For larger buildings, a single thermostat for detecting the temperature might not be sufficient. That is why many users will add remote temperature sensing devices like the ADC-S2000-T-RB to monitor the temperature across multiple areas. The ADC-S2000-T-RB will continuously report its detected temperature to the main thermostat so that it can be read locally. If the ADC-S2000-T-RB detects an unusually high or low temperature, then Z-Wave controller will know about the issue and report to Alarm.com. The user can then receive text and/or email alerts so that know to take action and address the high or low temperature.
The Alarm.com ADC-S2000-T-RB pairs with a compatible hub using wireless Z-Wave Plus connectivity. It then integrates with the ADC-T3000 or ADC-T2000 through wireless Z-Wave communication. The integration is completed through Alarm.com. Both devices must be enrolled with the user's Z-Wave network as part of the pairing process. It is also technically possible to pair the ADC-S2000-T-RB as a standalone Z-Wave device, without an ADC-T3000 or ADC-T2000, for the purpose of reporting the temperature to Alarm.com. However, most users will get an ADC-S2000-T-RB temperature sensor to pair with one of the aforementioned thermostat models.
There are LED lights on the ADC-S2000-T-RB to assist with the pairing process. Remember to clear the ADC-S2000-T-RB from the Z-Wave network before attempting the pairing process. Even brand-new devices may have been paired with a network as part of factory testing purposes. The ADC-S2000-T-RB uses a lithium CR123A battery, with an average life of three (3) years.
Note: This product replaces the original ADC-S2000, also known as the ADC-S2000-T-RA.
Note: In December 2020, this product was updated to support SmartStart pairing with compatible Z-Wave Plus automation hubs. SmartStart allows you to pair the device using convenient QR code scanning, rather than the traditional Z-Wave exclusion-inclusion process. An example of a Z-Wave Plus Controller that supports SmartStart is the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus when the Z-Wave firmware has been upgraded to Version 6.81.03 or higher. More information on the IQ Panel 2 Plus SmartStart feature can be found in this blog post. The ADC-S2000-T-RB Temperature Sensor is paired with the Z-Wave hub, and is integrated with an Alarm.com ADC-T3000 or ADC-T2000 Smart Thermostat through the Alarm.com platform.
