Alarm.com ADC-S2000-T-RC

The Alarm.com ADC-S2000-T-RC is a remote temperature sensor that can integrate with the Alarm.com ADC-T3000 or ADC-T2000 smart thermostats. Using the ADC-S2000-T-RC allows temperature information from different areas of the building to be relayed back to the main thermostat.

The ADC-S2000-T-RC is the replacement for the ADC-S2000-T-RB, which was manufactured outside of the USA. With the ADC-S2000-T-RC manufacture has moved inside the United States, and therefore a model number change was required to differentiate it. The Remote Temperature Sensor (RTS) can be used as a stand-alone Z-Wave device and can send notifications for high or low temperature through Alarm.com when used with a compatible alarm panel. In buildings with a larger area, a single thermostat may not be capable of keeping the entire building comfortable. For this reason, the ADC-S2000-T-RC is most effective when used with one of the Alarm.com Smart Thermostats. Multiple (up to 10) ADC-S2000-T-RC sensors can be used with a single thermostat. Each Remote Temperature Sensor (RTS) should be installed on an interior wall rather than an exterior one, away from direct sunlight, and not immediately over or near heating or cooling vents or ductwork. A mounting height of five (5) feet (1.5m) is recommended for optimum performance.

With the ADC-S2000-T-RC installed in conjunction with either an ADC T2000 or ADC T3000 thermostat, the user can have the reading of the RTS override the thermostat temperature to maintain an optimal temperature in specific rooms. Alternatively, when multiple RTS devices are employed, the customer can configure a temperature set point based on the average temperature reading of multiple ADC-S2000-T-RC sensors. The scheduling feature can be configured to provide different comfort levels in different rooms at different times, for example, in a baby's nursery during nap time, or in the master bedroom at night. Temperature sensors can also be placed in sensitive areas, such as in a basement where pipes may freeze. It can be set to alert the user if the temperature in this area drops below a certain threshold.

It is recommended that this device be enrolled using SmartStart on systems that support it. This prevents the user from having to enter Add Mode and then triggering the temperature sensor. In addition, it is recommended that all other Z-Wave devices be enrolled and a Network Rediscovery run prior to enrolling the ADC-S2000-T-RC sensors. This is necessary because a Remote Temperature Sensor does not respond to Network Rediscovery once it's been added to the Z-Wave network.
