DSC HSM2208

The DSC HSM2208 is an eight (8) output expander module designed to add additional low-current programmable outputs to compatible DSC PowerSeries Neo control panels and the Qolsys IQ Pro systems. It connects to the alarm panel through the 4-wire Corbus and provides eight individually programmable outputs for controlling compatible system devices.

Each HSM2208 output is an open-collector output that switches to ground and can handle up to 50mA. The module also provides two 12VDC AUX terminals (+/-) for supplying power to connected devices. The total AUX load is limited to 250mA, while the maximum input rating is 700mA when accounting for the AUX load and the eight (8) programmable outputs.

The HSM2208 is compatible with all DSC PowerSeries Neo and Qolsys IQ Pro alarm systems. The HSM2208 expands programmable output capacity, with support of up to 16 modules per panel. The module can be enrolled with the alarm controller for supervised system operation.

Communication between the HSM2208 and the alarm controller takes place over the DSC 4-wire Corbus connections. The maximum recommended wire distance from the alarm panel is 1,000 feet (305 meters). We advise using 18-AWG, 4-conductor wiring for this purpose. A built-in status LED provides information about the module's operating condition and can indicate enrollment, panel supervision, or Corbus voltage trouble.

The HSM2208 includes a resettable PTC fuse rather than replaceable fuses, and there are no serviceable parts on the circuit board. A built-in tamper switch is also provided. The module can be installed inside a compatible enclosure, with tamper protection required for certain UL and ULC commercial and residential burglary installations.

Use the HSM2208 when additional programmable low-current outputs are needed beyond those available directly from the alarm controller. Its eight outputs provide flexible control for compatible notification, automation, and other low-current devices.
