The DSC PG9984P Dual Tech Motion Detector is a passive infrared (PIR) and microwave motion sensor designed for use with PowerG-compatible panels. The dual detection process reduces the chance for potential false alarms, while still accurately detecting any intrusion events that may occur.
The sensor's dual PIR and K-band microwave technologies allow the sensor to still work accurately, while also preventing false alarms. Both the PIR sensor and the microwave sensor must be triggered in order for the device to activate. Once this occurs, the device will send a signal to the alarm system to let it know that motion is present. The system will then perform the programmed response for that zone.
In order to increase its detection range, the PG9984P utilizes mirror optic technology. This improves the device's coverage range and overall sensitivity. The nickel-based reflective surface of the sensor acts as a selective optical filter for infrared energy. This allows the device to prevent interference from white light and increase detection sensitivity. Another feature of the device is its digital temperature sensor that adjusts the device sensitivity based on the ambient temperature. This way, the device will still function properly, even when the temperature in the area is close to the average temperature of the human body.
As a PowerG Sensor, the PG9984P will work with any DSC PowerSeries Neo Alarm System and with any Qolsys IQ Panel 2 that has an installed PowerG daughtercard. The sensor has a clear line of sight range of up 2 kilometers away. As a result, it can work effectively across the entire property, such as in a detached garage or in a barn. The device also utilizes 128-bit AES encryption to prevent it from being taken over remotely by hackers.
