GRI M4532

The GRI M4532 is a surface-mount industrial grade aluminum magnet. It is designed for use with industrial grade contacts, particularly overhead door contacts. The magnet should go on the moving portion of the door, and it should be properly aligned with the sensor. Test after installing.

As the GRI M4532 is an industrial grade magnet, it should really only be used with an industrial grade contact sensor. If you are looking for a replacement magnet for a standard door and window sensor, then we have plenty of other magnets available. Like any magnet, the M4532 must be properly aligned with the sensor it is used with. Most sensors will have some marking to tell you which side should be facing the magnet.

When installing the GRI M4532, you want it to face the marked side of the contact sensor. This is the side of the sensor with an internal reed switch. When the door is closed, the magnet should be close to the sensor. This will keep the reed switch inside the sensor closed. Once you open the door, the magnet will become separated from the sensor. This will release the sensor's reed switch. The sensor will then report the open door to the system.

The GRI M4532 should be used with an industrial grade contact that requires a large magnet spacing gap. Make sure to test the sensor and magnet combination after installing. Testing is the only way to make sure that the sensor is working properly.
