The Honeywell K4563 is a replacement reset key designed for the Honeywell 5869 Wireless Commercial Panic Switch. You need this key to reset the Honeywell 5869 after activation. The Honeywell 5869 comes with a reset key already. This is a replacement in case the original is lost or damaged.
The Honeywell 5869 Wireless Commercial Panic Switch is what is known as a "latching panic". When you activate the switch to trigger an alarm, the switch cannot be activated again until it has been reset using this key. This allows you to know who set off the panic switch. The Honeywell K4563 is the reset key that is needed to restore the Honeywell 5869 Wireless Commercial Panic Switch after it has been activated. The Honeywell 5869 Holdup Switch already comes with a Honeywell K4563 Reset Key, so you only need to purchase this one if your original reset key becomes lost of damaged. Honeywell designed the 5869 Holdup Switch to require the reset key after activation so that the primary user would be able to know that the device had been activated. This is referred to as a latching panic, and it helps to ensure that the person who originally set off the switch can't just reset it on their own so that nobody knows they activated the panic. Unfortunately, this does make the 5869 unusable until the reset key is applied. But the intentions here were good. Overall, the Honeywell K4563 Reset Key works very well, and we give it a 5-Star rating.
One positive aspect of the Honeywell K4563 is that it is very easy to use. You simply insert it into the designated slot on the Honeywell 5869 after it has been activated to reset the device.
