Honeywell K4563 - Panic Button Reset Key for 5869 Reviews

The Honeywell K4563 is the reset key that is needed to restore the Honeywell 5869 Wireless Commercial Panic Switch after it has been activated. The Honeywell 5869 Holdup Switch already comes with a Honeywell K4563 Reset Key, so you only need to purchase this one if your original reset key becomes lost of damaged. Honeywell designed the 5869 Holdup Switch to require the reset key after activation so that the primary user would be able to know that the device had been activated. This is referred to as a latching panic, and it helps to ensure that the person who originally set off the switch can't just reset it on their own so that nobody knows they activated the panic. Unfortunately, this does make the 5869 unusable until the reset key is applied. But the intentions here were good. Overall, the Honeywell K4563 Reset Key works very well, and we give it a 5-Star rating.
One positive aspect of the Honeywell K4563 is that it is very easy to use. You simply insert it into the designated slot on the Honeywell 5869 after it has been activated to reset the device. The reset key is small and compact, so you can store it quite easily. The key is very durable and unlikely to break. Thanks to this key, the user should always know if their panic switch has been activated. However, there are also some downsides to consider. Due to its small size, the reset key is often lost or misplaced. Many users order a replacement key simply because they lost the original one. Another issue is that the replacement key will fit any 5869 unit. This means that a non-authorized user could technically purchase a replacement key, activate a 5869 Panic Switch, and then reset the device to use it again. The primary user might then never know that the device was activated. But we understand why Honeywell designed it this way, as it wouldn't be easy to offer a unique replacement key that would only fit a specific 5869 model. All things considered, the Honeywell K4563 gets 5 Stars from Alarm Grid.
Good: Easy to Use, Easy to Store, Durable & Unlikely to Break, Ensures That User Will Know About Activated Panic Switch
Bad: Often Lost, Replacement Key Can Fit Any 5869 Unit
Bottom Line: 5 Stars
