Description

The outstanding value of an IQ Security Solution comes from the ability to customize it to fit your needs. The Qolsys IQ Fob-S takes it one step further with remote control to manage your system on the fly. The proprietary S-Line encryption technology ensures safe and secure communication between the fob and the security system with a range of about 100 feet (30.5 meters).

The fob is backward compatible with all 319.5 wireless security systems. For panels that don't support S-Line encryption, like the Interlogix Simon series, the fob will still work, just without using the rolling code encryption. You can arm or disarm your system remotely for the ultimate in convenient operation. Set your IQ Panel to “Stay” or “Away” mode with the touch of a button. If you subscribe to Alarm.com, you can also get a text confirmation of your setting to ensure your system is armed.

Qolsys puts your safety first with the Qolsys IQ Fob-S and its sleek design, which looks very similar to a car remote. No one will know you’re controlling your security system while you're using the fob, allowing you to keep both you and your home safe. The fob also has a panic option to trigger an emergency alarm in case of danger, though it will only work when you're within range of your system.

Why You Should Consider a Qolsys IQ Fob-S

How many times has this happened to you? You’re leaving for work, you're already out the door when you realize that you’ve forgotten to arm your security system. With the Qolsys IQ Fob-S, you can arm the system from outside. Or maybe you’re coming back home from shopping with several bags of groceries. With the fob, you can disarm your system easily before you ever open the door to your home.

The 100-foot range allows you to control your system discreetly, from a distance. Unsure who is knocking at your door? Arm the IQ Panel in the stay mode to keep your home secure without endangering yourself. You can also disarm it to avoid triggering a false alarm. And with the option for an emergency panic button, the Qolsys IQ Fob-S offers you peace of mind.

Specifications of the Qolsys IQ Fob-S

You can use the fob anywhere within a 100-foot radius of your IQ Panel. The device works best with a clear line of sight between you and your alarm. The communication between the fob, and those alarm panels that support it, is secure with Qolsys’ proprietary S-Line encryption technology. The device looks just like a car remote with a convenient built-in metal ring to attach it to your keys.

The Qolsys IQ Fob-S measures 2.5 x 1.3 x 0.55 inches. A model CR2032 battery will last about four to six years before requiring a replacement. The fob communicates with your security system using a unique and strong radio frequency (RF) signal. You can reliably use the fob in temperatures between 0 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to 49 degrees Celsius) without any disruption of service.

The lock and unlock buttons are located opposite one another. The unlock button is on the top of the unit, and the lock button is on the bottom above the keychain. This helps to prevent you from hitting the wrong button. There is also a button denoted by a star. Currently, this button and the button with a light bulb icon cannot be programmed with a function. This could change in later firmware versions of the IQ Panels.

Operation of the Qolsys IQ Fob-S

To use the fob, you’ll first need to learn it into the IQ Panel so that it will recognize the new sensor. Begin by placing the control panel into "Auto Learn" mode. Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the fob at the same time to transmit a signal. You can customize the device through the IQ Panel, giving it a unique name to distinguish it from other fobs that may be in use.

You can also manually program the IQ Fob-S by entering the Download ID found on the back of the device. Do this by putting the panel into “Add Sensor” mode, rather than "Auto Learn". Either way, you can set up your fob quickly and easily for remote operation.

To arm your security system, press the lock (arm) button once until the red LED lights to show that the fob is transmitting. This will arm the system in "Stay" mode. Press the lock (arm) button a second time to arm in "Away" mode. To disarm, press the unlock (disarm) button until the red LED lights up showing that the fob is transmitting. It’s that simple. If you subscribe to Alarm.com, you can also receive a text message to let you know the status of your IQ Panel.

Panic Mode

Your Qolsys IQ Fob-S also comes equipped with an emergency panic mode to request assistance from your monitoring company, or to sound an audible alarm in an effort to scare away an intruder. You can press both the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for three seconds to trigger the panic alarm.

The small size of the IQ Fob-S makes it convenient to carry in your purse or bag. The need to simultaneously press the recessed unlock/lock buttons at the same time to activate a panic means that you won’t set off the alarm accidentally while the fob is in your pocket or purse.

The Qolsys IQ Fob-S offers the convenience of managing your IQ Security System remotely with a device that is easy and reliable to use. With its emergency panic mode feature, you have the added satisfaction of being able to summon help in a situation where you're at home, but unable to get to a phone or to the main alarm panel. The fob is affordably priced, making it a smart investment in safety and security.

Note: Qolsys sensors operate at 319.5 MHz. They will not work with the 345 MHz and the 433 MHz versions of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. They are designed for the 319.5 MHz IQ Panel 2 Plus and other 319.5 MHz systems.
