We are hear today to present the annual life safety award, currently named after my father who passed away at Fox Point a year ago. He had been a Cozy senior slash general utilities, general security life safety award, to officer Garside for his heroic actions: within a two week span, he saved the lives of three Suffolk county residents who suffered cardiac arrest, and they’re still with us today because of his actions.

Well unfortunately, it was an emotional day for us. We didn’t want to get to the point where we had to name the award after my father. But it was very fitting because he was a person who loved to give back to his community. He was ther to help anybody in any need, and we just felt it was very fitting as the founder of our company and what he was all about to name the award after him today.

My father instilled in us from the time that we were children, community serivce and to give back to the community. We volunteer very much of our time, and it’s because of th eactions that my father taught us as children that we felt this was a great way to give back to their community and recognize those who put others before themselves.

This year, Officer Garside chose Wounded Warrior, because of his family background and ht emilitary that’s what he wanted to give back to. My father would have been very proud to be standing here today because he was very appreciative of our military and what they had meantto him and our country and fighting for our freedom.

While there were certainly many charityies that had come to my mind, Wounded Warriors was the oen that I had chosen. And it’s in the memory and honor of my two grandfathers. Both of them served in WWII in the US Army. And in their honor I received this. In choosing Wounded Warriors, soldiers that return oftentimes have limitations and disabilities, and certainly we owe a great deal of respect to their sacrifices and I believe that OWunded Warriors is such an organization that helps them to make that transition easier going form military to civilian life. I was truly honored by general utitlities that they have taken it upon themselves to be part of the public safety network and to have chosen me for such an award was very gratifying.
