In this video, Frank meets with at ISC West 2019 to discuss the upcoming ADC-T3000 Thermostat. This is a Z-Wave Plus that offers extended range and improved battery life over he current ADC-T2000 model. The T3000 was designed with in mind, making it great to use with many panels.

A smart thermostat can make for a great addition to almost any home. These devices can be programmed so that they run at a schedule that is optimal for the user. For instance, a user might have their thermostat working at minimum efficiency while they are at work. But then when they return home at 6:00pm, the thermostat will know to kick the HVAC system into high gear so that the home remains as comfortable as possible. All the user has to do is set a schedule that suits their needs.

But the T3000 goes beyond the capabilities of a standard programmable thermostat. Most notably is its ability to control the device through A user can open the Mobile App from virtually anywhere to gain immediate access to their T3000 device. They can then heat or cool their home or check the current temperature from no matter where they are.

The integration also allows the use of smart scenes. A smart scene is an automated group of actions that occur with predetermined events or on a set schedule. A popular option is to have the thermostat activate with smart scene that activates when the user returns home and disarms their system. The idea is that since the user disarmed their system they will likely be staying home for awhile and they want to keep their home comfortable.

What separates the upcoming T3000 from the existing T2000 is that the T3000 uses Z-Wave Plus technology. It also features an improved back cover for increased and easier connectivity with wires. The new user interface (UI) is also more straightforward and more pleasing to navigate, and it should provide a better experience for end users overall. Clearly displayed "Cool" and "Heat" labels provide a quick way to check the device's current mode,


Hi, DIYers. This is Frank at Alarm Grid. We're here at ISC West 2019 in the room off their main booth, looking at some new products in the pipeline for, in particular, the T3000. This will be their new smart thermostat, an upgrade to their existing T2000. And we're going to have Gustav give us a rundown of some of the new features, and look at the integration within the app as well.

Yeah. So basically, it builds up the same sorts of remote functionality that you have in the original smart thermostat, so it supports the same temperature sensors. You can do geolocation-based control of your thermostat. All those sort of features you know and love from the first generation one, but we've taken a bunch of feedback from our dealers and installers from the first generation thermostat to just improve on, basically, every facet of this one. And so, I mean, it starts in the back.

We've gotten feedback from a whole bunch of dealers that they'd like to have a bit more room to do the wiring for these thermostats. So there's more space here. There's also improved wiring terminals that are super easy to use and reuse, even if you have to pull the wire out, put it back in. Updated mounting holes over here that actually match what most commercially available thermostats have, so you get a little bit of a quicker install there.

And again, same sort of a level over here that you can use. And then on top of that one too. When you have clicked in the wires and you attach the smart thermostat to the top the first time, it will detect exactly what wires are in there. So you can, number one, really quickly set up the thermostat. And you know, you make sure that it's an error-free installation.

Yep. So it can auto-sense what type of heating/cooling system you might have.

Yeah, exactly. And it'll show you exactly what it is so you can confirm it, make sure it's all the wires that you plugged in there.

Cool. OK. And then also, the new display with both the set point and the current temp, which is kind of cool.

Yeah, exactly. One of the bits of feedback we heard too was, while people like the icons, some people just like to actually see the words for cool, heat, exactly what mode it's in. Then also being able to see the temperature at the exact same time as that set point that they're using to set the target temperature for their thermostat. On top of that one too, there's just a little bit more in the way of menus on this. So number one-- not everybody, but some people care a whole bunch about being able to set their fan mode on their thermostat.

Oh, yeah.

So all of a sudden, that's available here. You can set that. And then, on top of that too, especially if you've got an HVAC guy who's coming in beforehand and setting up the thermostat, we've got a whole series of menus that they can go through and do the sorts of configuration that they're used to. So it becomes a simple install for them. Even if you're not there, you can just show up later on and add in the thermostat [INAUDIBLE].

They can do the rough kind of wiring or back-end HVAC work, set up the thermostat locally, and then you can kind of take it from there as a customer to kind of enroll it into your app.


Yeah. So, I don't think there's much difference on control within the app, right?

Exactly. So once you're in the app, it's exactly the same interface that you're used to, and it supports the same cool, heat, auto modes. You know, you can do humidity-based control. Again, you can select the remote temperature sensors to control the devices. It's all the same stuff you're used to over here.


Temperature sensors so if, for example, your thermostat's someplace else. One that I use all the time is, my thermostat's downstairs. My bedroom, I want it to be a comfortable temperature up there. When it's midwinter or sort of the height of summer, the temperature downstairs is way different from the one upstairs.


So it's great to be able to say like, OK, I want it to be 68 degrees, and I'll sleep well no matter what.

So the wireless sensors are the little S2000s?

Yeah, exactly.

They're not going to have like an S3000 or anything, it's same sensors?

No. For now, yeah. We're going to use the exact same sensors with the setup.

And you can use an average of these temperatures as well?

Yeah, exactly. You can either choose a different one, or you can select multiple ones and use an average between the set of them.

Very cool. All right. Well, we're excited for the release on this. When are you looking at an ETA approximately?

So we think it's going to be end of May--

End of May?

--should be the launch of this one. So coming up real soon for you guys. We had a real successful round of beta testing with a number of dealers.


And so, great feedback from that one, and we're excited to get it out into the world.
