Masking a Motion Detector

Masking a Motion Detector

Transcript

[SWOOSH] If you wanted to mask this, instead of masking the lens, you actually mask the mirror. So the segmented portion is where you would determine what it can or can't see. And you would do it opposite of the area that you don't want it to see. So if I had this motion mounted up here and I don't want it to see people over here, I have to mask my mirror over here. So this is the world's ugliest motion detector. This is Honeywell's DT6360STC. It's a ceiling mount, 360 motion. And if you notice the little dipped in part, that's the PIR. And that uses a mirror. And then the little sticking out part, the outie, is the microwave sensor. And this is kind of a cutout of what this lens looks like. So you can see it's kind of concave. These are the little segmented pieces of mirror. So your energy comes in here. And if you wanted to mask this part, you have to put your masking material over here. So it's the opposite of where you would think, because it's a mirror. Everybody cool with that? Mhm. All right.
