Registering a Lyric Alarm System SIM Card

Transcript

hi the LRS Joe here from alarm grid and today we're going to talk about how to register a cellular communicator in the lyric security system the first in the know about installing a cellular communicator in the lyric system is that each of the Selleck communicators that are available all provide exactly the same functionality the reason that there's multiple different kinds is so that you can pick the one that corresponds to the strongest cellular network in your area there's three different types there's Verizon AT&T and Rogers Rogers is only going to be used in Canada as that's where you'll find that cellular network now as far as the communicators go currently the fastest communicator for the lyric system is the AT&T LTE communicator there is a variety e communicator coming out soon we expected to be out this year we don't have a timetable on it yet the only a Verizon communicator that's available for the system is the CDMA verizon communicator and currently we're not recommending customers to purchase that as the CDMA network is going to be dropping in the next couple of years and you're going to find when that drops the the communicator is not going to work if you do have the option go with the AT&T LTE communicator and that will work for many years into the future now on the system itself there's a few settings that you can check to see different stuff about the cellular communicator but to register the so the communicator you're going to have to activate the system with a security company the first thing to do when you purchase this other communicator is you have to install it in the system on the lyric there's a side bay door right here on the side this pushes up and then it comes out and as you can see we've already installed a cellular communicator in the system it slides right into its side bay and it clips in and if anybody's wondering what this little blue tab is that's so that your fingernail can pull it up and you have a tab to grab to pull it out so don't remove that if you see it you'll want to install the cellular communicator with the system fully powered off that's what the backup battery also removed if you do install it with the system powered on you'll likely need to perform a hard reboot to get the system to register it so it's just popped aside cover back on there's also an option to install the cellular communicator when the system is on and I'll show you that real quick if we click on our tools icon then we enter the master code which we have is the default one two three four and then we go to advanced you'll see down here there is install cellular module if you click this and then click yes you're gonna have a menu and what this allows you to do is hottt install the cellular module which is really convenient if you don't wanna take the lyric off the wall or you just want to leave it where it is after installing it hit OK and then you should be all set now as far as registering the system you're gonna have to get a monitoring company to actively build the account on their end and then you'll be able to register the panel until the panel is registered the security company is not going to be able to check the signal strength of the cellular communicator as they won't have that data but you can actually check to see certain aspects of the cellular communicator in the system so to see where that is we're going to click on Tools we're going to do four one one two we're going to click on program there's two things that you need to do with a cellular communicator first you're going to want to go to your communicator menu and up here is where you can set the comm path this has to have cellular or cellular and Wi-Fi for the system to be able to use cellular as you can see we have it set on Wi-Fi and cellular and we don't have it registered yet so after confirming that if we go back and you go to comm Diagnostics you'll see there's a few different menu icons down here we can click on cellular information when the cellular module is registered it's going to show the signal strength and some other information about the cellular communicator in the system but as you can see we're not registered yet so we don't add that information if you click the down arrow you'll see there's a communication status over here and this one will also show the cellular registration status after you get the system registered this will show registered and it'll be another indicator you can use just to see that the system is connected to an alarm at 360 account other than that that's really all the options that you have as far as checking the cellular communicator and the system goes as far as registering it it registers just like you would any other lyric system after installing the cellular communicator in the system your security company will tell you to go to tools enter the installer code and then when they ask you to they're going to say hit the new panel Association now you don't have to provide your security company with any specific information of the cellular communicator to get it registered to register the lyric system they're just going to need the Macan crc off of the system itself now if they run into trouble and they do have questions about certain things on the cellular communicator if it's not registering in or if they have some other troubleshooting steps that you want you to take on the cellular communicator itself there's going to be an information sticker which will have the the a ID number and some other numbers that your security company may need if they have to do some troubleshooting stuff that's how to register a system with a cellular communicator a lyric security system that is if you did enjoy the video hit
