hi diy-ers this is michael from alarm grid and today i'm going to be showing you how to remove or clear a z-wave device from a qolsys iq panel 2 or qolsys iq panel 2 plus security system uh clearing a z-wave device is basically deleting it from the network it's wiping out the z-wave data so that way it can be paired with a different network you usually want to clear a device before adding it to a network even if you're using the device for the first time even if it's fresh out of the box it might have some z-wave data from the factory and for testing purposes so it's always a good practice to clear your devices from the network and luckily it's very easy to do i also want to mention uh you can clear a device even if it's not paired with the network um it will still show that the device has been cleared successfully or if it's paired with a different network um so lots of situations where you can clear a device or delete a device whatever you want to call it um but just be clear you don't have to actually have it on a z-wave network and we're going to demonstrate today with uh we we have um a z-wave siren and a z-wave lock that we're going to be testing today um so we're at the main screen of our qolsys iq panel 2 plus we're going to click the small gray bar at the top of the screen and we're going to choose settings and we're going to choose advanced settings and we're going to enter in our installer code which ours is at the default of one one one we're gonna choose installation and we're gonna choose devices and we're going to z-wave devices because we're working with z-wave devices today so you see the options here um and you see our little spray bottle for cleaning i guess but there's the option to clear the device so we're going to do that and now it's it's in a listening mode where it's looking for a device to clear so we're going to show uh the qolsys iq siren first it's got a button right here that we press to send an enrollment or a dis enrollment on enrollments uh clear signal whatever you want to call it we're going to press the button and as the iq panel 2 kindly spoke to us it has been cleared from the network so now we could go and add that to the the network if we wanted to but um we don't really care about that we're here to clear devices today so even though this wasn't actually paired with anything but now it's clear from the network um so now i'm gonna do the same thing i'm going to put it into the clearing mode but we're going to turn our attention to the lock so let's first put our iq2 into the clearing device mode it's in the mode now we're going to go to the lock and we're at our lock here this is a quick set lock and it has an enrollment and a clear button right here it's both for the same purpose and we press the button and as you can see the device has been cleared from the network successfully um so that's how you go about clearing device you'll also be able to go and add these to the network successfully i'll just show you with the iq siren just to give a quick demonstration if we wanted to add a device we can press this button press include it's looking for device and we press the button and we press the button and it did discover it it took a couple tries there um and apparently we're using the z the the the s zero z-wave security protocol instead of the s2 protocol um oh well so we'll press ok and we can configure the settings it looks like it got on id10 we'll just do add network and it's been added to the network but we don't actually want it on the network that was just to show you so just one time for redundancy we'll clear it from the network by pressing the button and putting it into the clear mode and you see this time instead of saying unknown device it said the siren is deleted because it knew what it was because it was on the network so that's great and then we can just return home by pressing the home button at the bottom of the screen so that's how you remove a z-wave device from the qolsys iq panel 2 or qolsys iq panel 2 plus you have any questions about z-wave home automation or about the iq panel 2 plus send an email to support alarmgrid.com if you found this video helpful make sure to give it a thumbs up below to like the video and remember to subscribe to our channel for updates on future videos we hope you enjoyed the video thank you
