[INTRO SOUND] Hey, DIYers. Dylan here with Alarm Grid. Today, we're going to be reviewing how to set up a automation scene on the Total Connect 2 application. I'm going to be using my iPhone today. But if you have an Android device, the process is fairly similar. So let's get going. So when you're ready to set up the scene in the Total Connect 2 application, you'll first load up the app. You go to the more option. At the top of the screen, you'll see the option for scenes. By default, there are a few that are already set up, but we're going to create a new scene. So we're going to press on Create Scene. We'll name this test for now. And you have some options on when you can actually trigger the scene during this time. So you can set a date or time where the scene will trigger automatically triggered by some device. So for example, if a front door opens, that will send for the scene to activate or you can manually activate it. So if I just want to go ahead and press the scene option and run it from my phone. So we'll do manually activate. And the device is going to be the switch. And then we'll have the option for this to turn the switch on. OK. So we have our scene name test, scene trigger manually, and the device setting is basically just saying what's going to happen. In this case, we want our switch to turn on if I activate the scene. We'll save from here. It can take a few minutes sometimes. And perfect. Success. Our scene has been saved. And then you'll see it right there, the test option. So you see it also says, sync pending. So we're just going to want to get this synced back up. We'll go to the My Location tab in the More section. Scroll down, you see sync panel is already grayed out. We'll actually refresh status here. And we see at the bottom panel, sync is in progress. This can usually take a few minutes as well. We can also view the status of this in the activity. All right. So panel sync begins as we see here in the activity. We're just going to wait for that to show success. OK. So automation sync success. So now that we've created the scene, we're going to run it just to be sure it works. We'll go to the Scenes option in the More tab once again. And then we'll see our test option right there. We're going to press play and again, we set this to run manually. So that means it will activate the scene once I press play here. OK. That sent a signal over to our system and the attached z-wave device. And as you can see, the link system we had set up is powering on. We had paired a z-wave switch, plugged in our link system to that. And once I ran our scene here, we see the system powering on because it's receiving power. Now, if I want to create another scene, test two. We'll also do manually activate, and we're going to set this for the switch once again. But this time, we're going to have it turn the switch off. We'll save this. Save success. And then let's run our second test. So again, this is going to turn the z-wave switch off, which will kill power to our link system. And there you go. It works like a charm. OK. So that is scenes on an iOS device or the Total Connect 2 application. Again, the Android device is fairly similar for that process. So you'd be able to get that set as well. We did a very basic showing here, just the manual triggers. But as I had mentioned earlier, you can also set up date and time triggers and system status triggers as well, as well as a device. So if a door opens, we can have that trigger as well. So you have a light that you want to turn on once you come in. You open that door, the scene triggers, and the light will turn on. Very easy, good setup as well, and there's plenty of other options that you can have with scenes. If you have any questions about this, feel free to reach out.
