2GIG GG-EDGBATT

The 2GIG GG-EDGBATT is the replacement backup battery for the 2GIG Edge Security Panel. When the supplied lithium battery has reached its end of service life, replace it with the 2GIG GG-EDGBATT and keep the 2GIG Edge powered and running smoothly. This battery provides 24 hours of run time.

Rechargeable lithium batteries have a life span of anywhere from three (3) to five (5) years under normal conditions. Once they reach the end of their useful life, they begin to lose the ability to hold a charge. Symptoms of this will be low battery indications from the panel, even when there has been no loss of AC power. The low battery indication may occur and restore over and over, or may occur and then never restore. If you see this behavior and the battery in your system or keypad is three (3) or more years old, then you probably need to replace it.

Be sure to treat lithium batteries with care. Never puncture the outer casing, and dispose of used batteries properly, recycling whenever possible. When you're ready to replace the existing battery be sure to remove AC power from the panel. You'll need to separate the front and back of the panel by removing the screws at the four (4) corners in the back. Once you have the panel opened up, unplug the existing battery and remove it. It has adhesive on the back, so you may have to tug on it with some force to dislodge it.

Prepare the new battery for installation, removing the covering of its adhesive side. Be sure to install the new battery in such a way that the battery connector can properly connect to the port on the panel. Do this before you press the battery into place and it gets stuck there. Plug the battery into the proper port (the panel will boot up with just battery power). Finally, reattach AC power and replace the panel's cover.
