GRI M-4400

The GRI M-4400 Industrial Aluminum Magnet is a replacement magnet for industrial door contacts. It is most commonly used with overhead industrial doors. This magnet should be placed on the door's moving structure and positioned so that it is properly aligned with the door contact.

The GRI M-4400 is best-suited for use with an industrial overhead contact. It normally isn't used with run-of-the-mill door and window contacts that you would use around a home or office. If you are looking for more of a "standard" replacement magnet, we recommend checking our selection. If you do decide that the M-4400 is right for you, then you will need to make sure that it is properly aligned with the sensor.

Most door contacts will have a marked side which tells you where the magnet should be positioned. The M-4400 should be facing this marked side. This is important for making sure the sensor's internal reed switch remains shut when the door is closed. By opening the door, you will separate the magnet from the sensor. This will release the internal reed switch and tell the sensor to report to the system.

After installing the GRI M-4400 make sure to test it with the sensor. This is the best way to ensure that the sensor and magnet combination works properly. You need to make sure that the zone shows a fault when the door is opened and that the fault restores once the door is closed.

Note: This magnet can also be used with outdoor contact sensors. The aluminum housing will not match the sensor, but it will work fine. You can paint the magnet if you want it to match the sensor better.
