Description

The Honeywell Home PROA7BAT3 is a backup battery that can be used with a Honeywell Home PROA7, Resideo PROA7C, Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS, or Resideo PROA7PLUSC. The rechargeable battery pack plugs into a port and slowly stores power so that it is ready to keep the panel running during AC loss.

All of the aforementioned ProSeries Panels receive primary power from a plug-in transformer. While this is happening, the PROA7BAT3 is storing power in case there is an outage. Once an outage occurs, the PROA7BAT3 automatically activates and saves the system from automatically shutting down. It can then keep the system running for at least 24 hours, assuming the battery was at a full charge when the power outage began.

Like any battery for an alarm system, the Honeywell Home PROA7BAT3 has a limited useful product life. This is because it will gradually lose its ability to store a charge over time. Basically, the battery will store less and less power until it can no longer be relied upon to keep the system powered on. This is an extremely slow process, and a user should expect the PROA7BAT3 to last for at least five (5) years before this happens.

Please note that the PROA7BAT3 was the original battery pack included with the ProSeries Panels. But in March 2021, the PROA7BAT2 replaced it as the standard battery pack bundled with the systems. The main difference between the two options is that the PROA7BAT3 has a larger power rating of 3.6VDC, 7800mAh, compared with the smaller power rating of the PROA7BAT2, which is 3.6VDC, 5200mAh. Additionally, the PROA7BAT3 is a larger, 3-cell pack that plugs into the larger battery port on the panel, while the PROA7BAT2 is a smaller, 2-cell pack that plugs into the smaller battery port on the panel. Both options are advertised to keep the ProSeries 7" AiO Alarm Systems running for at least 24 hours.

They Made the batteries and updated firmware more efficient in tandem and both batteries are rated for 24 hours according to the manufacture, but that all is going to dependant on what the panel is doing during that downtime.
Why did Honeywell switch to from PROA7BAT3 to PROA7BAT2 which has lower power rating (7800mAh vs. 5200mAh)? Was it for their own cost savings? We had a couple of 12h+ power outages recently and the panel's battery lasted maybe around 10 or so hours, so I'm wondering whether I should switch to PROA7BAT3. We do use the voice annoucement for each door switch so I suppose that drains the battery more during a power outage, however I noticed that it was announcing these less often during these outages. Is the PROA7BAT3 the highest capacity version available for the PROA7PLUS panel? I would consider something that has even higher than 7800mAh if available.
