The Honeywell IS216T-CUR is a passive infrared (PIR) curtain motion detector that allows protection across a plane without covering an entire room. The Honeywell IS216T-CUR is similar to the IS216, but has a more two-dimensional coverage pattern that allows you to protect a bank of windows on one side of a room, or a ceiling or skylight. The IS216T-CUR can be vertically mounted on a wall, horizontally mounted on a wall, or even ceiling mounted, to take advantage of its unique coverage pattern for different protection needs.
The IS216T-CUR has two motion detection sensitivity levels which can be set using the DIP switches located on the circuit board. The motion’s attractive white housing has mounting knockouts that allow it to be flush mounted to a wall or ceiling, or even corner mounted. The Honeywell IS216T-CUR must have a clear line of sight to the protected area. The PIR motion detector uses infrared technology that must see movement in order to detect an intruder in the area. Make sure that there are no objects within the field of view that could cause a false alarm, and don’t mount pointing towards windows, machinery, heating or cooling devices.
The Honeywell IS216T-CUR is unique in that it provides a curtain of protection, essentially a flatter plane than most other motion detectors. When mounted vertically, the IS215T-CUR has a coverage pattern of 33’ out by 5.5’ wide. When mounted horizontally, such as to protect a ceiling or skylight, the IS216T-CUR has a pattern that is 28’ wide, extends 20’ out, and has a thickness of 3.3’. Because if it’s non-traditional coverage pattern, it is recommended that you walk test the IS216T-CUR motion sensor so that you are aware of the maximum coverage distance in the installed environment.
