IQ Glass Break

The IQ Glass Break (IQGB) is a wireless glass break detector designed to provide an alarm signal to a compatible IQ security system. It uses S-Line encrypted wireless communication at 319.5 MHz for secure communication with the control panel.

The IQGB is designed to protect framed glass mounted in an outside wall. It can detect breaking glass from plate, tempered, wired, coated, laminated, and sealed insulating glass. One detector can monitor multiple windows within its coverage area, making it useful for larger rooms where several windows need protection.

The detector provides a maximum detection range of 25 feet (7.6 m) when the protected glass is at least 15 3/4 inches (40 cm) square. For smaller glass measuring from 12 to 15 3/4 inches (30 to 40 cm) square, the maximum range is 20 feet (6 m). For UL and ULC installations, the maximum verified range is 20 feet (6 m).

The IQGB uses an omnidirectional acoustic sensor for coverage throughout the room. For best results, the detector should have a direct line of sight to the protected windows. Mounting on the opposite wall is recommended when practical, with the detector positioned at least 5 feet (1.5 m) from the glass. Curtains, blinds, and other sound-absorbing materials can reduce the effective detection range.

The sensor automatically operates when the IQ Panel is armed in Stay or Away mode. It includes false alarm prevention technology that analyzes sound patterns before triggering an alarm. A built-in red LED provides event indication, while the device also reports low battery and supervisory information to the panel.

The IQGB is powered by a 3V lithium CR123A battery and provides approximately 5 years of battery life under typical use at room temperature. A back tamper helps detect attempts to remove the detector from its mounting surface. The device can be mounted with screws or double-sided adhesive tape, although screw mounting is required for UL-listed installations.
