Optex WNX-40IX

The Optex WNX-40IX Wireless PIR Motion Detector is a pet-friendly sensor that is designed for use with Interlogix/GE and Qolsys Alarm Panels. The device offers a coverage area of up to 40 by 40 feet. It can alternatively provide a 60 by 6 foot coverage area by using an optional FL-60N lens.

The device works by taking a base reading of the infrared (IR) energy in the area. If any movement occurs, there will be a change in infrared energy. The change must be large enough to activate the motion sensor, as a user would not want any false alarms to occur. When the sensor detects a change in IR energy, the Optex WNX-40IX will then send an alert to the security system to let it know of the situation. The system will then respond according to the programming settings for the zone.

The WNX-40IX offers many features that are designed to actively reduce any false alarms. One way is with OPTEX Quad Zone Logic. This allows the sensor to establish additional high-density detection zones for sensing IR energy. The device can actively distinguish between humans and other sources of IR energy like pets, moving curtains, and ceiling fans. This makes false alarms less likely to occur on the sensor.

The device uses a spherical lens to increase the focal length for each of its high-density detection zones. This helps its Quad Zone Logic feature to function as effectively as possible and allows it to better detect any human intruders. Also with temperature compensation, the device will operate properly even when the ambient temperature is close to that of the human body.

An adjustable pulse count for the WNX-40IX allows the user to configure its sensitivity settings as needed. A higher pulse count is less sensitive, a lower pulse count is more sensitive. The maximum battery life is 7 years, and it uses a CR123A for power. An LED status light displays the current status of the system. This version works with Interlogix/GE and Qolsys Systems that accept 319.5 MHz signals.
