GE used to make security systems. Their systems were some of the most popular, well made units in the industry. As their quality became known, GE became one of the most recognizable brands in the industry. In February, 2002, GE purchased Interlogix Security, which wrapped its products into the GE Security brand. In March of 2010, GE sold off its security division to UTC for 1.82 billion. When UTC acquired GE's security division, along with its many products and service offerings. GE's products were wrapped into UTC's Fire & Security division.
UTC quickly revived the Interlogix brand, and began marketing what was previously GE equipment as "Interlogix." In the following years, UTC continued production of the Interlogix line, selling hundreds of thousands of units into home of some of the more popular products, such as the Simon XT.
In September of 2019, unexpectedly, UTC announced that it was shuttering its security division effective the end of 2019.
