Specifications of the 2 Verizon

The IQ Panel 2 uses the Android OS, which is future proof with continual updates. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset with quad core processor for efficient operation. It has six wireless radios, including WiFi, cellular, Bluetooth LE 4.0, Z-Wave Plus, and S-line. It also supports some 2-Way RF products.

It has a built-in router, speaker, and microphone with its Panel Glass break detector. The panel has a seven-inch, capacitive touchscreen with intuitive user menus for easy operation. It also has a 5MP panel camera for capturing photo and videos of unauthorized disarming attempts. You can even have the images sent to your smartphone for instant notification.

Setting Up Your IQ Panel 2

Begin by placing your command center in an accessible location. You can either mount it on a wall, or use the optional table stand. Connect the power, and plug in the unit. The start screen will guide you through the setup process. You’ll need to create an account on Alarm.com for interactive features and communication with your monitoring station agent.

You’ll also have to connect the panel to your Verizon LTE and your WiFi networks for secure data transmission. The real value of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Verizon comes from the optional sensors and Z-Wave devices that you can add to your system. You can choose from a wide array of motion, door, or window sensors to protect every entrance to your home.

You can also connect lights, appliances, garage doors, and more to the IQ Panel 2 for home automation settings. You must connect each device you add to the control center to monitor its status and receive alerts. You can give each one a unique name, chime, and set of smart rules to customize your system.

For example, you can set a siren alarm if a motion sensor is triggered while you are away. Likewise, you can adjust the temperature setting on your wireless thermostat for optimal energy savings. You can also set up to 242 users by type, access code, and expiration. Once you’ve completed these tasks, you’re ready to activate your security system.

Using the Command Center

The touchscreen interface is simple to use. You can swipe up or down to see additional content. You can change pages by swiping either left or right. The panel’s settings are always accessible by swiping down. Here you can change the system's volume, brightness, and language. You can view messages and alerts, as well as the status of your entire system.

To activate it, press on the lock icon to set the options for arming and disarming the unit. You can set it to either "Stay" if you’re at home, or "Away" when you leave the premises. You can also set an alarm delay so that you can disarm it quickly and avoid false alarms. You can activate the camera alarm to take a photograph in case of an unauthorized access attempt.

The IQ Panel 2 provides a backup security feature with a manual emergency alarm. You can select whether you need the police, fire department, or first responders, in case one of your installed sensors fails. You can even communicate with a monitoring agent if your provider supports Two-Way Voice service.

The panel includes a set of tests for you to perform self-service maintenance or troubleshooting on your system. Regular monthly testing will ensure that your security solution is operating with optimal performance settings. You can also receive alerts on low battery levels or inactive sensors to make sure that everything is running properly.

Great Panel!

The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 with Verizon LTE Communicator is an outstanding security system. Although it has been discontinued in favor of the newer Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus, the original IQ Panel 2 can still be used reliably and activated for monitoring service. And it offers even more advanced features and functions than most other security systems on the market. It is an extremely versatile system that can be used nicely in a small to medium sized business or residentially in a household. The system is very easy to set up, which is highly appreciated by DIY users. You really can't go wrong with this system, which is why it gets a 5 Star rating.

There is so much to like about the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. Its Verizon LTE Communicator provides effective and reliable monitoring service. With a good cellular connection, your panel should always remain connected and monitored, which is extremely important for keeping you safe. The system offers some nice features like optional automatic Bluetooth disarming, support for four (4) partitions, the ability to live-stream compatible Alarm.com Cameras, and so much more. The panel has a sleek and modern design that fits in nicely with almost any home or business. It is a system that you feel proud to display mounted on a wall or kept upright using its included stand.

As mentioned earlier, the original IQ Panel 2 has been discontinued. And there are some minor drawbacks, such as the panel being difficult to close and the communicator not being replaceable if it becomes damaged. But otherwise, this is an excellent alarm panel, and we can certainly recommend it if you find a used model somewhere (as long as the LTE communicator is released). It receives a 5 Star rating from Alarm Grid.

Good: Lots of Features, Modern Design, Compact Panel, LTE Communicator

Bad: Discontinued, Panel is Difficult to Close, Communicator Cannot Be Replaced

Bottom Line: 5 Stars

Good afternoon, The panels come with transformers meant specifically for the units. You could just swap out the transformers at the end of the wire run to be used with the new units.
Hello- I plan on converting my hardwired DSC 1832 to the Qolsys IQ panel 2 with a IQ Remote panel. Can both panels utilize the power from my existing DSC keypads or do I need to run new power to the Qolsys key panels? Thanks in advance
