Qolsys IQ4 Hub

The Qolsys IQ4 Hub is an alternative to the IQ Panel 4 that gives you all the features you want, with none of the features you don't need. Both panels have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-core processor, and both have 16GB of NAND Flash memory. However, the IQ4 Hub does not include a front-facing camera, nor does it offer dual SRF support.

What we mean by dual SRF support is the ability to support both PowerG and a Legacy Security RF protocol. In many cases, the ability to support both is unnecessary, with a user choosing to either go with all PowerG sensors, or all Legacy SRF sensors. For those individuals, the IQ4 Hub comes in either a PowerG version, a 319.5 MHz version (to support Legacy Qolsys and Interlogix/GE sensors), a 345 MHz version (to support Legacy Honeywell unencrypted sensors or 2GIG sensors), or a 433 MHz version (to support Legacy DSC sensors). If you don't plan to use sensors from two different security lineups, then you can save money by purchasing the system that only supports what you need.

In addition to choosing the RF frequency supported by the Qolsys IQ4 Hub, you will also need to choose the cellular carrier that best suits your needs. The IQ4 Hub will come with either a built-in Verizon LTE or AT&T LTE Cellular communicator. Choose the carrier that has the best signal in your area, regardless of what cellular carrier your cell phone may use. The cost of cellular alarm monitoring is built into the price you pay to your monitoring dealer. Every IQ4 Hub has a built-in dual-band WIFI communicator as well as the cellular communicator. Making every IQ4 Hub capable of dual-path alarm monitoring. A monitoring plan that includes cellular communication is required for each IQ4 Hub. This is because Alarm.com requires all panels that work with their service to use cellular.

Bluetooth is also included with the Qolsys IQ4 Hub. Up to five (5) phones can be paired with it via Bluetooth. This pairing allows for hands-free disarming when a paired phone comes into Bluetooth range of an armed panel. The IQ4 Hub also supports partitioning, and the Bluetooth-paired phones can be assigned to disarm multiple partitions if desired. On top of Bluetooth disarming, the IQ4 Hub can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker, though it does have only one (1) speaker and it is not compatible with the IQ Base, which can only be used on the IQ Panel 4.

Automation for the IQ4 Hub is handled by the built-in Z-Wave 800 Series controller. The newest Z-Wave chip offers support for longer-range applications, even better battery life, and increased security as compared to the Z-Wave 700 Series chip. As always, Z-Wave 800 Series is backward compatible with all previous Z-Wave iterations, so older devices can still be controlled using the Qolsys IQ4 Hub. Just keep in mind that mixing older devices with newer ones won't allow the older devices to support improved features such as extended range and longer battery life. Only newer Z-Wave Plus and Z-Wave Plus V2 devices can support those features.
