hey deal wires I'm George from alarm grid today we're gonna be going over apple homekit on the Simon XTi so just to start off home kit is still not available for Simon XT eyes or any panel that uses alarm.com services so basically what the home kit is it's an app that allows you to control different home two devices there's a lot of home two devices out there lights locks there's some alarm systems that do provide in there integrations with home kit but the Simon XT is the Simon XTi the Simon XTi five the Simon XT since they use alarm calm and alarm calm still has not made any integrations with home kit or vice versa home key hasn't made integration any integrations with alarm comm it is still not able to be used now for those of you that are looking for something that will work with the Simon XTi or an ex-gi five or the XT you guys can always take a look at the Alexa or the Google home assistant right these are little hubs and as long as you guys have alarmed comm service on your panel meaning it needs to have a cellular communicator now there's a lot of different side of your communicators for the Simon XT panels there's a Simon XTi and it actually has Verizon AT&T t-mobile and if you're in Canada it has Telus so if you guys are looking to set up the alarm comm service so you can control stuff through let's say Google home assistant or through the Amazon Alexa you guys can do that now like I said the panel does not work with home kit however there are series shortcuts now that you can add to the alarm.com application I'm gonna show you guys right now what you can actually do with the app so you guys can see now keep in mind give me one second now keep in mind in order in order to use the series shortcuts your phone does need to be unlocked the reason for that is if someone steal your phone they go to your house and they tell alarm.com to disarm it's going ask you for the passcode that means they need to know the pass code to your phone in order to disarm that alarm system it won't work otherwise so the phone needs to be unlocked for the series shortcuts to work and I'm gonna show you guys right now exactly what you can do and then I'll show you how you guys can set up seen your shortcuts so even though you can't use homekit you can still use your iOS device whether it's a tablet or an iPhone so give me just one moment here let me get everything set up alright alright so I've set up some voice commands already two arms arm away and to disarm deal Simon XTi so I'm gonna show you guys right now on my phone how I'm gonna do that so you have to do first of all enable Siri and I'm gonna say arm away one moment arm away [Music] it's telling me to hold on one second it's sending the command through the alarm knock on application and back down to the panel and in a second here you should see the system and again if you want to disarm this on this arm disarm so it took a little bit for ciri to understand what I was telling it I feel like I have to do with the beeping from the alarm panel coming right into it as well but the disarm should go through in just a second it disarmed the system now I'm gonna show you guys how to set up those voice commands so you want to log log into your alarm.com application mine's already logged in by default so if it's your first time logging in you're gonna need your username and password and then after that you can do an auto login if you guys have faced ID or touch ID you guys can do it that way when you first log in it's gonna take you to the home screen that's where you'll be what you want to do is on the top left corner you hit the little three three horizontal lines above each other gives you the menu to the left hand side scroll all the way down to where you see app settings after you go to app settings go to Siri shortcuts and you need to make sure it's enabled so if it's I think by default it's the little button and swipe to the left which means that it's disabled you need to make sure you just tap it slide it to the right it's gonna ask you a couple of prompts if you want to enable it if you want to share the audio files to Apple this and that you want to make sure you accept although all of those little prompts and after you go there you then need to go to the suggested shortcuts for the Simon XT or the firm for the suggested shortcuts underneath and let's say you see how I already did an arm away and disarm you're gonna want to do one for let's say an arm state so I'm gonna hit the plus sign next to arm stay it's going to give you the options you go ahead and mess around with it which with whichever one you want I'm just gonna hit okay and then it's gonna ask you to give it the voice command so whatever voice command you give it that's what this whenever you tell Siri that's what it's gonna do so if for instance mine's just a normal honor state I'm just gonna say arms stay I hit the record button arm stay yes it actually lets me know that that's what I said if you want to go ahead and confirm you can rerecord as well if you didn't like the way it came out I'm gonna leave it like that I'm just gonna hit done it's gonna save it in the top you can actually delete some of the voice commands as well so if I want to get rid of arm away I just hit the minus sign I hit delete shortcut you can also rerecord it from there if you guys need to edit it I'm just gonna delete it for now and then after that it's saved you can go ahead and back out you can close out of the app and it's just gonna be there now if I want to use it I just say arm stay it's gonna send the command to alarm comm and it's gonna push it down to the panel just give it a second there any and again this can be done on a on an iPhone or a tablet so whichever one you guys want to work on I'm gonna go ahead and disarm it from the panel cool so that is just a way that you can still use your iOS device even though you can use homekit you still use Siri as long as you enable those shortcuts and that was just a quick video on how to do that if you guys do have any more questions do feel free to reach out to us our email is support at alarm comm
