Hi DIYers, this is Sterling with Alarm Grid. Today I'm going to be answering a question from Jose in Florida. Jose was wondering which battery should be used with a 5811wireless thin door or window sensor.

The battery that you should use is the Panasonic CR2032 battery. It is a three volt, coin lithium battery, lithium which gives it its long life, very important. And while Honeywell supplies a Panasonic, you can also use other brands. You can use Energizer, Duracell, whatever brand battery as long as it's important that it's 2032. It may not be CR2032. Other brands use different designations, but the 2032, three volt, lithium part is what's important.

To install the battery, what we're going to do is take the 5811 - it's already open - as it comes from factory, and you basically with the positive side up, the battery has a nice, big positive so you know. With the positive side up, you insert it. There is a little tab on the side. You put it under one tab, and then you just press firmly on the other side until it snaps into place. Now the sensor is ready to be used.

Obviously, you insert the back plate. You have two little tabs along the bottom which fit into the plate here, snap the sensor shut, and now you're ready to use it with the battery and the magnet. The sensor is good to go.
