hey DIY is Dylan here with alarmgrid today we're going over how to replace the battery in the Simon XTi or Simon XTi 5 so to change the battery in the Simon XT basically when you're gonna do this is somewhat obvious you're gonna do this when you have a low battery alert on the panel itself the panel warrior let you of the low battery it will give you a nice indicator on the screen saying system low battery once that shows up that is basically just letting you know that the battery within it is low a lot of people think that because their security panels are plugged in all the time they wonder you know how can a battery be low my panel is plugged in all the time it's functioning if my battery was low wouldn't that mean my power is out No so the battery within the panel is rechargeable and as it's much more known especially with more phones tablets more things being used with rechargeable batteries eventually those batteries do die obviously for phones and tablets the battery lifespan on that is meant to last forever or not forever but as long as I can because it's not really easily replaceable and they're not just standard batteries battery pack it's more of a specially designed battery however with these they do last quite a while for the actual battery within it because they're not being used as often so the lifespan on these batteries is quite a while but eventually they do get to the point where they can't recharge anymore probably a better example would be a laptop battery or something like that laptop battery you can replace you'll notice with a laptop battery after a certain while it's gonna lose its charge much quicker it's gonna have issues it will give you a consistent low battery message even if it's plugged in and charged so somewhat similar to that so basically even though it's plugged in all the time it can still have a low battery after a certain amount of time that's but it's basically just meaning that the battery itself it's losing its charge and it's letting you know hey if I lose AC power I'm not gonna be able to stay on fat long because my battery's low now we're gonna take apart this I'm going to show you how to access the battery itself so the battery model is the inter logics 600 Simon XTi battery basically the first thing you do to get access to that battery is take off the trim of the system so to take this off it's very easy you can feel where it comes apart at the top simply just snap it right off not really much pressure needed at all pops right off very simple now before I go to the next step what you want to do is cut AC power to the system itself by unplugging the transformer from the wall I'm gonna go unplug that right now and then now that my power is cut to the panel I'm gonna go ahead and open it up to open up there's two tabs right at the top here all you have to do is just lift them up slightly again not much pressure needed at all and then the panel will open up to you to simply pull it down now we have the battery here obviously since it's a low battery we're gonna have to actually replace this one main thing you want to do of course is first unplug the battery itself there's a little clip that's located right here that you'll just have to push down and then pull now it's just verify power is off and then essentially what you would do is just remove this battery obtain your new battery pop it back into place make sure it's nice and secure by using the provided clips and then once the new batteries in there you'll plug it back in push it back up let me just close that properly so I'm get a tamper message put your trim back on and then go ahead and plug your AC power back into the panel okay so you will get the low battery message back on the screen when you plug back in basically the battery is gonna take a little bit of time to actually charge what we usually recommend is about a day it could charge within a few hours however so if you see a little battery message right away after putting the new battery don't worry it's not a defect it's just a matter itself charging and yeah that is how you replace the battery in a Simon XTi if you have any more questions about the Simon about batteries about monitoring feel free to email us or email us support at alarm grid comm and we also have more information on our website wwlp.com us as well our phone number is eight eight eight eight one eight seven seven two eight if you did like this video please like and subscribe and hit the bell icon to be notified we release more content my name is Dillon with alarmgrid thank you for watching
