[THEME LOGO MUSIC] Hi, DIYers This is Michael from Alarm Grid, and today I'm going to be explaining why your Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS security system might not be connecting to a Wi-Fi network. This applies to the PROA7PLUS I'm going to be referencing today as well as the Residio PROA7PLUSC the Honeywell Home PROA7 and the Residio PROA7C, the PROA7PLUS, which we have up here and the PROA7PLUSC. Both include the Pro Wi-Fi ZW card inside, which is a Wi-Fi card plus a Z-Wave Plus controller. The PROA7 and PROA7C don't have a Wi-Fi card by default and you'll need to add one which can be a Pro Wi-Fi or a Pro Wi-Fi ZW which I mentioned earlier, but if you have a PROA7 or a PROA7C you will need to add one of those to get your system online connected to Wi-Fi. So there are a few reasons why your PROA7PLUS system or other Pro Series panel might not be connecting to Wi-Fi. First of all, I'm going to mention if there's just a problem with the Wi-Fi card, the Pro Wi-Fi ZW or the Pro Wi-Fi. You might need to replace that card. If it's damaged for some reason, then that might be a possibility. That's usually a last resort, so try all the other methods first. Really, I should be mentioning this last, but just want to throw that out there. If there is something wrong with that card, then that is definitely a problem there. But I do want to show you how you would get on to the Wi-Fi settings and connect to a Wi-Fi network. We're already connected to a Wi-Fi network, but I do want to show you the menu is. Here at the main screen of your Pro Series alarm panel you can press the three horizontal bars button at the bottom. And then you can scroll to settings, and then you can choose Wi-Fi. And then it's going to ask you for a pin. You can use your master code, default 1-2-3-4, but usually change that. Or you can use your installer code, which ours is at the default 4-1-1-2. We're going to do our installer code 4-1-1-2. And then we get into the Wi-Fi menu, and we can choose Wi-Fi networks. And you see we're connected to AlarmGrid right now. And we'll have an available networks list, and you should as well in your area. And when you go to connect to your network, make sure you enter in your Wi-Fi network password correctly. And it is case sensitive, meaning that applies to uppercase letters and lowercase letters. Make sure you're entering it in exactly. Be very careful when doing that because that would be a reason why you fail to connect to a Wi-Fi network, so just be very careful when entering the network password. If you're using ubiquity access point, those are known to have some problems. If you have the auto optimized feature turned on, it's known to cause network instability with the Pro series panels. So you want to turn the auto optimized feature on a ubiquity access point off, as network instability by that I mean it might connect to the network, but then if it disconnects for some reason it might fail to connect, fail to reconnect and it might just fail to connect in the first place. So refer to your ubiquity access point manual for information on the auto optimized feature and how you can turn that off, so that definitely is something you should do. One other thing I want to mention, the Pro Series panels can only connect to 2.4 gigahertz Wi-Fi networks, they can't connect to 5 gigahertz Wi-Fi networks. So if you have a 5 gigahertz network and you're trying to go through your list and you're wondering why it's not there that's because it can't connect to that. You can actually see that CBC 4C82 network that ends in 2.4. The reason that's ending in a 2.4 is because it's a 2.4 gigahertz network. And it probably also has a 5 gigahertz band out there, but the Pro Series panel can't see it. That's not one that we're using with our system but it just happens to be a good visual aid right there that I can show you, so make sure you're using a 2.4 gigahertz network not a 5 gigahertz network. The Lyric also had similar issues. It also had problems with ubiquity access points and it also couldn't do 5 gigahertz networks. So the Pro Series panels are successors to the Lyric, so that actually makes a little bit of sense but those problems did carry over to the Pro Series panels. And just try some general things. If you're having problems with your Wi-Fi, reach out to your internet service provider-- Comcast, Xfinity, whoever-- and see if they-- if there's a problem in your area. Ask them if there's a problem in your area. And if so, then wait for your service to be restored and then try again. You might also try resetting your router, rebooting the panel even, powering it down, powering it back on and seeing if when it power's back on then you are able to successfully connect to Wi-Fi. That's just a general fix. And last but not least, like I said, there might be a problem with the pro Wi-Fi ZW card, or if you have a pro Wi-Fi card, you might need to replace it. So those are things to keep in mind. So there's reasons why you're PROA7PLUS or other Pro Series and alarm panel might not be connecting to Wi-Fi. If you have any questions about the Pro Series alarm panels or monitoring service in general, send an email to support@alarmgrid.com.
