Description

In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid shows you how to include a Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock with the Honeywell Lyric Security System. Including a Z-Wave device may also be referred to as pairing. By pairing a Schlage Z-Wave Lock with your Lyric System, you will be able to control it directly from the panel, meaning that you can lock and unlock your door from the Lyric. If the system is monitored and set up with Total Connect 2.0, then you will also be able to control the lock from that platform. Total Connect 2.0 will also allow you to include the lock with smart scenes so that it activates automatically based on a set schedule or with certain predetermined system events.

Before attempting to pair a Schlage Z-Wave Lock, you should make sure to clear it from the network first. This is important for ensuring that all Z-Wave data within the lock has been wiped so that the lock can be paired successfully. A Schlage Z-Wave Lock will follow the same process for exclusion as it does for inclusion. The only difference is whether the Z-Wave hub, which in this case is the Lyric Panel, is in its inclusion mode or exclusion mode. In order to put a Schlage Lock in its inclusion/exclusion mode, you must enter the lock's unique programming code, followed by the [0] key. This will tell the lock to send an inclusion/exclusion signal to the Z-Wave controller, and the lock will be included or cleared based on whether the hub is in its inclusion or exclusion mode. Also, to find the unique programming code the Schlage Lock, you must open up the lock's cover and find the white sticker with that information. It is recommended that you write down the programming code and keep it somewhere safe so that way you do not need to open up the lock to access the programming code again later on.

Hi, DIYers. This is Michael from AlarmGrid, and today I'm going to show you how to pair your Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock with your Honeywell Lyric Alarm System. Now, the advantage to pairing your Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock with your Honeywell Lyric Alarm System is that you will be able to control the lock from the panel, you will be able to lock and unlock the door, and if the panel is monitored and you have access to Total Connect 2.0, it will get pushed over to that service, and you will be able to control it remotely from your phone, from a web browser. You can include it with Total Connect 2.0 smart scenes and pair it with other Z-Wave devices to have them activated automatically based on a set schedule or predetermined system events. It is a very handy feature. And we have two Schlage Z-Wave Door Locks here. We are going to be working with the top one today. They both look very nice, very clean, polished looking door locks, fit in with any modern decor. If you have an older looking home, this has more of a rustic look. We think they both look quite great. They can be a bit finicky when pairing with the panel. But once you get them paired, they are usually pretty reliable. So it is just a matter of completing the initial pairing process, which is actually very simple. So I'm going to turn our attention to the Lyric Alarm System here. OK, so we are at the Lyric panel now. And what we are going to do, we are going to put it into exclusion mode to clear the device from the network. That will wipe out any residual Z-Wave network data, so we can make a clean pair with the panel. You always want to do this when pairing a Z-Wave device. So we are going to go to Automation, and then we are going to press the Down arrow. We are going to press Tools, and we are going to go to Exclude Devices. Remember, we want to do this before including the device. And now, we are going to turn our attention to the Schlage Lock. OK, so now we have our keypad pulled up on the Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock. And we are going to enter in the programming code, which we actually had to open up the lock. I'm going to show you that real quick. We had to remove these screws to access the inside to get to the sticker. And there is a programming code on there, it is a six-digit code. And what you want to do is you want to actually write down this code and store it somewhere safe. We have ours here. We are going to store it somewhere safe, because we are responsible individuals. So we need to get the keypad to reappear here, which can take a second. OK, so what we want to do is we want to enter in the programming code plus the number zero. So our programming code is 925979 and then 0. And then, if you turn our attention to the Lyric System, you will see that an unknown device has been excluded from the network. That is actually the Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock. And now we will be able to pair it with the network. So we are going to go back to the Lyric here. And we are going to press the Return arrow to go back to the Z-Wave menu. And this time, we are going to go to Include Devices. And now, we are going to do the same pairing process that we did for exclusion on the Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock to pair it this time. So we pull up the keypad. We enter in our programming code, 925. It didn't like that, so we are going to try again here, 925979 and then 0. And the device has been found on the Lyric System, that would be the Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock, so it has been successfully paired the system. We are just going to click Done here. And we don't have to press Include down there, that would just put the system back into inclusion mode. It has already been paired. We don't have to do it again. So we are going to press Back. And if we go to Locks, we can see that Lock 242 is the Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock. And we are just going to demonstrate it real quick. And we are going to press lock. And you can see that the Schlage Z-Wave Door Lock is working properly. So we have successfully paired it with the Lyric System.
