Description

In this video, Jorge explains how you cannot view the IPCAM-WOC1 through the Lyric Alarm Panel. The Lyric only allows you to view legacy Total Connect IP Cameras through the panel itself. But the IPCAM-WOC1 is a newer Total Connect HD Camera. You can only view it from the Total Connect 2.0 platform.

The Honeywell IPCAM-WOC1 is an outdoor security camera designed for use with Total Connect 2.0. You cannot actually use this camera with the Lyric System itself. However, you can use it with the Total Connect 2.0 service that is commonly used with the Lyric System. The camera can be viewed at any time by logging into your Total Connect 2.0 account from the website or mobile app. By using the mobile app, you can view the camera from essentially anywhere. You can also have Total Connect 2.0 send you text and/or email alerts whenever the camera is activated so that you know when to check a new clip.

Remember that you will need an alarm monitoring plan that includes video service to use the IPCAM-WOC1. If you also have a Lyric Alarm System that you want to use for alarm monitoring, then you will want to get a Platinum Level Plan from Alarm Grid. This plan will include access to Total Connect 2.0 for interactive monitoring, smart home automation, and video surveillance service. You can choose between two (2) different Platinum Plans. One of these plans includes service from a central monitoring station, while the other does not. Both plans will include access to Total Connect 2.0 for all of the aforementioned services. But unfortunately, there is no way to view the IPCAM-WOC1 from the Lyric System itself.

Also keep in mind that the IPCAM-WOC1 is an IP Camera that connects with a local WIFI network to access the Total Connect 2.0 platform. As a result, there must be internet internet in the building to use this camera. You will also likely want to use the local WIFI network as the primary communication path for the Resideo Lyric Alarm System. We also recommend setting up a cellular communication path as backup for the system. This will require a cellular communicator. You can choose between the LYRICLTE-A and the LYRICLTE-V. Our Platinum Level Plans also include cellular connectivity for the Lyric.

Hey, DIY-ers. I'm Jorge from AlarmGrid. Today, I'm going to be going over whether or not we can use the WOC1 which is an outdoor camera with the Resideo Lyric Controller. Now, the easy answer to that is no, you cannot use the WOC1 directly with the Lyric Controller because the video does not stream to the actual panel. However, if you guys have Total Connect 2.0 and you guys are using the service to control your Lyric system remotely from the app, then yes, you can use the WOC1 and stream the video to the Total Connect app. So it's not that the video camera doesn't work with the Lyric System, it's that it doesn't work with it directly. It doesn't actually send any video footage to the panel. It sends it to the cloud, which is what Total Connect is, basically. The Total Connect is the app that use to control the system. It's where basically what you used to arm/disarm, control home automation devices, create emails and text messages. And if you have the video service enabled for your Total Connect service, then you'll also be able to view the WOC1. Now for AlarmGrid customers, this would be any one of our video plans or our platinum level plans. So if you're one of our customers and you're wanting to add video to your Total Connect 2.0, all you have to do is sign up either for a video plan or one of our platinum level plans. Now, the WOC1, I'm actually going to show you guys through Total Connect. I have Total Connect on my tablet here, and I'm going to show you guys that you can stream it through the app. So the first thing I'm going to want to go ahead and do is get my iPad set up so just give me one second here. So once you have your tablet or your phone or even the computer, whatever you are actually using to access Total Connect 2.0, you're going to go ahead and open it up. Mine automatically logs in since I have an auto sign in. So make sure you're using your correct username and password. And if you guys have the video service enabled on your Total Connect 2.0, you will actually see on, if you're using the app, on the bottom, you're going to have your menu. If you're using the website, on the left-hand side, you're going to have a hamburger sign which is three horizontal lines. You open that up to open the menu, and you should see a tab that says Cameras. Now, all the new generation cameras, the WOC1 which is the outdoor, the WC1, and the WC2 are the two new generation indoor cameras. Those all stream directly to the Total Connect app and not to the panel. If you guys are looking at getting cameras that stream to the panel, the only ones that did that are the Legacy cameras. So we're talking about the W-- I think like-- I2, WL2, none of the ones that have the letter C in them. So they're just the WL2, WI2, WI1. I forget the models. They're pretty older cameras. But make sure if you guys are buying these cameras online, you guys make sure that there was an update that will send from Honeywell, which is also Resideo. There was an update that was sent back then where if the cameras never got the update, they actually don't work and they're basically obsolete cameras now. So if you're buying Legacy cameras, make sure you're aware of that because a lot of people do try to sell brick cameras, it's what I like to call them because they can no longer be used. A lot of people do like to sell brick cameras online to unsuspecting buyers. So make sure if you guys are buying Legacy cameras, you check to see if they were ever updated over the air through the Total Connect service before the new generation cameras came up. Now going back to the app here, when I went to my cameras, you'll see I have my indoor cameras and then my parking lot camera. That's the outdoor camera we have set up here. I can actually click on it. And it will actually show me a live stream of the parking area right now. So like I told you before, the WOC1 does live stream to the Total Connect application. I believe you can only access the live stream through the app. So through your phone or through a tablet, you can actually access the live stream on the website if you're using a web browser. The web browser, you can download and view the clips, but you can actually live stream.
