Why You Can't Bypass Certain Sensors in Total Connect?

Transcript

I di wires this is Frankie alarm grid we're back in our video lab working on our Total Connect tutorial videos and we are going to show you or explain to you rather why you cannot bypass certain zones on your alarm system we'll get into the details of that once we get logged into the web interface and we'll transition over to our other computer here I'll show you how to get to Total Connect - that's the number - dot-com and once we have you logged in show you how to do this so this will require your username and password credentials we do have another video on how to login to Total Connect will explain detail how to do that let's assume you already have your credentials will get you logged right in to Total Connect and once you get logged in you'll want to pull up your sensors list that's found right here in the security interface it should come if you look on the left here it should come right to the Security section sensors once we pull up this list here you'll notice that some sensors have the ability to bypass while others don't now why is that so the reason why you can bypass burglary sensors is because if you have a window open and you don't want that to protect that window say you want to vent it and leave it open because it's a warm night in the summer you can remove that the protection in that particular window if you choose and that won't be a life safety issue same thing with flood or maybe warm temperature even you know even kind of warm heat temperature zones like we have in here these aren't life safety issues obviously you know I wouldn't recommend ever bypassing a flood or any sort of temperature sensor but the reason why you don't see a checkbox here on the smoke detector on zone 8 you'll notice that you have checks and all these to bypass if I hit front door and scroll down and it bypass I can do that but the reason why we don't see anything here for the smoke is the life safety issues so Honeywell being cognizant of you know human life which is a very important thing doesn't want you to be able to bypass a smoke arm the system or bypass to smoke in general because regardless of the arm state of your security system smokes are alive all the time there are 24-hour devices meaning that any time that smoke that smoke trips it will trigger this the alarm on the security system it will report out to the Central Station if you have Central Station dispatching you'll get verification calls and then the fire department will be dispatched if you don't pick up those calls and if if that's you know situation isn't in place or if you were able to bypass the zone and and this you know you did have god forbid have a fire and in the home or business then you know Honeywell might be liable for that so for that reason we we basically they have dropped the ability to bypass these types of zones for the same reason why you can't disarm a fire alarm from Total Connect the idea is if you're out you should be on-site and you shouldn't be able to disarm these things remotely for life safety reasons same same logic here for the inability to bypass on smoke heats CO detectors anything life safety related anything other than these life safety devices you should be able to bypass if you are unable to bypass these for whatever reason that may see some other issue which you can certainly reach out to your security says your security company for for assistance but this kind of explains the general reason why these checkboxes are missing on certain zones generally life safety zones so if you have any other questions on how or why or and some of the reasons behind bypassing any issues with bypassing security or burglary zones you can email us at support at alarm grid comm don't forget to subscribe to our channel here like the video if you found it useful and have a great day
