Alarm.com ADC-W115C

The Alarm.com ADC-W115C is a 2.4 GHz WIFI extender as well as a configurable chime for the Alarm.com wireless doorbell cameras. It requires power from a standard unswitched outlet. It's added to the existing network using WPS or AP mode and is then added to the Alarm.com account using the URL: www.alarm.com/addcamera. Once added to the account, it extends the 2.4 GHz WIFI network and will chime for any ADC wireless doorbell cameras that have the feature enabled.

This is the perfect device to use when installing an Alarm.com wireless doorbell camera in a location where there is no existing doorbell chime, or the existing doorbell chime is broken or incompatible. The ADC-W115C is easy to install, and once installed and connected to WIFI, it can be monitored and configured using the Alarm.com dealer portal, customer app, or web portal. It can be configured initially using the customer's app with their login credentials or using the MobileTech app. If neither of these options is available the ADC-W115C can be added to the existing WIFI network using WPS.

To use this device a broadband internet connection is required. A computer, tablet, or smartphone is needed for the initial device setup. Finally, the Alarm.com account will need a service package that includes video support. For Alarm Grid customers, this can be a Gold Plan (Self or Full), which can support a single video doorbell, a Platinum Plan (Self or Full), or a Stand-alone Video Monitoring Plan. When joining the ADC-W115C to the existing network using WPS, the device should be powered up near the router. Once it is connected, it can then be moved to the intended location, ideally about mid-way between the router and the Alarm.com device or devices it will serve as an extender for.

Since the bulk of Alarm.com wireless video doorbell cameras uses the 2.4 GHz WIFI band, the ADC-W115C is ideal to use as a WIFI extender for those video doorbells. The exception is the ADC-VDB770, which can use either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WIFI. Although 5 GHz WIFI is faster, 2.4 GHz WIFI offers better penetration through walls, and a better coverage footprint, so the 2.4 GHz WIFI band is usually preferred for video doorbells. The ADC-W115C Smart Chime is compatible with the ADC-VDB770, ADC-VDB105X, ADC-VDB106X, ADC-VDB101, and ADC-VDB102 doorbells.

There is no limit to the number of Smart Chimes an Alarm.com wireless doorbell camera can ring. If the "Send button press notifications to Alarm.com Smart Chime" feature is enabled for a particular doorbell camera, then any Smart Chime connected to the same account will produce a chime when that doorbell camera's button is pressed. It is recommended that no more than eight (8) Alarm.com WIFI devices be connected to the ADC-W115C in its capacity as a WIFI extender. Having more than eight (8) devices connected can negatively impact performance.
