Description

The DSC HS2ICN is the Fixed English keypad variant for the DSC PowerSeries NEO. DSC also refers to their Fixed English Keypads as the ICON keypads. This type of keypad is good for arming and disarming the system and bypassing zones. However, it should not be used for programming the system.

Most DSC PowerSeries NEO owners start with a keypad with a built-in transceiver that allows them to begin adding PowerG Wireless Sensors as well. On top of that, the user should have at least one (1) Alphanumeric keypad so that they can properly program the system. A Fixed English ICON keypad is not suitable for either of these tasks. As a result, the DSC HS2ICN is not recommended as a starter keypad for a DSC PowerSeries NEO. If you are looking for a good starter keypad for your DSC PowerSeries NEO, then we recommend checking out the DSC HS2LCDRF9 N Keypad. The LCD keypad offers both the Alphanumeric display and the PowerG Transceiver functionality that is recommended for a starter keypad.

That being said, if you are in the process of adding an additional keypad to your DSC PowerSeries NEO, and you already have a capable starter keypad, then the DSC HS2ICN can perform admirably as a secondary keypad. The DSC HS2ICN is the most basic and the simplest keypad option available for a DSC PowerSeries NEO. It doesn't offer any proximity tag support. It doesn't include a PowerG Wireless Transceiver for enrolling wireless sensors. And the keypad also lacks the Alphanumeric viewing capabilities that are essential when programming a DSC PowerSeries NEO System. Though if none of those features matter to you, then the DSC HS2ICN might fit the bill perfectly.

Fortunately, there are some nice features that are included with the DSC HS2ICN Keypad. For example, the keypad has backlit keys and a backlit blue LCD display screen. This helps to make the keypad easier to use in a dark environment. It also has five (5) programmable function keys, an input/output terminal, emergency fire, medical, and panic keys, an adjustable backlight, and a keypad buzzer. Although the DSC HS2ICN Keypad is largely considered to be the most basic keypad for a DSC PowerSeries NEO, it can still be useful in the right installation. Remember that rather than displaying the current system status, the DSC HS2ICN will just display the current time.
