Description

The DSC PG9926 Wireless Smoke Detector provides an effective way to monitor your home or business for fire. The device uses photoelectric technology in its smoke detection, which offers superior sensitivity. Once activated, the device will produce its own horn and alert the alarm system.

With an 85 dB sounder integrated with the device, the PG9926 can potentially be used as a stand-alone smoke detector. However, it is most effective when paired with an alarm system. That way, the system can also produce a siren in the event of a fire. This is the only way to receive automatic fire dispatch from a central monitoring station. Programming with an alarm system is also necessary for setting up the device so that a user can receive text and email alerts about a potential fire.

As a PowerG Sensor, the PG9926 offers an impressive range and protection against hacking attempts. It will work from a maximum distance of 2 km away from the panel with a clear line of sight. This allows the device to work across an entire property, such as in a barn or a detached garage. It also utilizes 128-bit AES encryption in all its communication. This encryption makes it nearly impossible for the device to be hacked or taken over by potential intruders.

Another great feature of the DSC PowerG PG9926 is that it supports a One-Go-All-Go feature. This means that if one PowerG Smoke Detector is activated, then all the other PowerG Smoke Detectors also enrolled with the same system will activate as well. The One-Go-All-Go feature is great for ensuring that everyone in the building knows about the fire. Normally, this is only possible with interconnected high-voltage smoke detector, so it's great to see a new wireless smoke detector with this useful feature.

Read here to learn the difference between smoke detectors and smoke alarms. Photoelectric smoke detectors work with an alarm system, and when properly maintained and tested, can last for an indefinite period and do not automatically require replacement after a certain period of time like smoke alarms and CO detectors do.

NOTE: The maximum range for a PowerG Sensor when used with an IQ Panel 2 Plus System is only 2,000 feet in open air. This is considerably less than the advertised 2km range. The 2km range refers to when a PowerG Sensor is used with a DSC PowerSeries NEO System.
