Can The 2-Wire Smoke Zone On The Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-F Support One-Go-All-Go?

No, the 2-wire smoke zone on the Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-F cannot support one-go-all-go. It is not possible to use a power reversing relay with the 16-F to make all its connected smoke detectors sound at once. You must find another solution if you want to set up one-go-all-go smoke detectors.

One-go-all-go refers to a feature offered by many life-safety sensors. When one smoke detector on a one-go-all-go network activates, all of the other smoke detectors on that same network will activate as well. In other words, every smoke detector on the network will activate its Temporal 3 sounder. This can be very important for making sure that everyone on the premises knows that there was a fire and that they should evacuate immediately. If only one smoke detector on the network activated, then people in a different part of the building might not hear it, and they wouldn't know to take action.

Traditionally, interconnected high-voltage smoke detectors support the one-go-all-go feature. However, these smoke detectors cannot be integrated with alarm systems without the use of a takeover listening module. If you are using hardwired smoke detectors with an alarm system, then you will normally need to set up a power reversing relay to get the smoke detectors to support the one-go-all-go function. Unfortunately, you cannot use this type of setup with the Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-F and 2-wire smoke detectors.

The Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-F allows up to ten (10) compatible 2-wire smoke detectors to be connected to Zone 16. This is the module's designated 2-wire smoke detector zone. There is no way to set up the smoke detectors used with this zone for a one-go-all-go function. Instead, each smoke detector used with this zone will only trigger individually. For more information on how to add 2-wire smoke detectors to a Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-F, please see this FAQ. You may also want to review this troubleshooting FAQ.

Please note that if you are using a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus System, then there is an easy one-go-all-go option that you can take advantage of. That option is to use wireless PowerG Smoke Detectors. These smoke detectors will utilize one-go-all-go when they are included on the same panel. They can readily interface with all versions of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. This includes the 319.5 MHz model that can support the Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-F. We recommend using the PG9926 Smoke Detector or the PG9936 Smoke and Heat Detector for one-go-all-go. Please be aware that you can mix PG9926 and PG9936 devices on the same network and still achieve a proper one-go-all-go setup for all interconnected devices.

Note: The 2-wire smoke zone must use a 4.7k resistor if it is supporting 2-wire smoke detectors.
