The DSC TL880LTECVZ N is an Alarm.com compatible Verizon LTE Dual-path communicator. It is compatible with the DSC PowerSeries Neo and DSC PowerSeries Pro alarm panels. As a dual-path communicator, the TL880LTECVZ N ensures reliable transport of all your alarm system's signals. The communicator uses a wired ethernet connection, along with the Verizon LTE signal path.
When it comes to alarm communication, dual-path communication is always recommended. In the past, alarm systems used a phone line to communicate to a central station. Then, when the vulnerability of phone lines became apparent, cellular communicators were introduced to act as a backup to the hardwired phone connection. Now, most homes have an internet connection, rather than a phone line. And cellular is still the most reliable backup path available.
Different manufacturers treat dual-path communication in different ways. DSC and Alarm.com dual-path communicators always send each signal along both paths. Whichever signal is received first by Alarm.com, that signal is processed. The signal that is received second is discarded. In this way, Alarm.com and DSC are insuring that the fastest available path is used for each and every signal that is sent by the alarm system.
Adding a DSC TL880LTECVZ N to a DSC PowerSeries Neo or Pro panel will also allow the user to access Alarm.com's suite of remote access features. Alarm.com allows a user to check their system status, send arming or disarming commands to the system from anywhere, and to receive notifications of system events in real-time. The TL880LTECVZ N also has a Z-Wave Plus controller built-in. This unleashes Alarm.com's emPower service, which allows a user to manually control Z-Wave devices from anywhere, in addition to providing the user the ability to automate these devices based on system events, and/or a schedule.
