The Honeywell Home PROSIXMED is a medical alert solution for use with the Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS Alarm Panel. This wearable medical alert button should be kept on the user's person at all times. The button can be activated after a slip and fall or other medical emergency to request help.
Medical alert buttons like the PROSIXMED make it possible for many elderly and mobility challenged individuals to live more independently. These devices also provide much needed peace of mind for both the user and their loved ones. The PROSIXMED in particular is very easy to use. Pressing and holding the large center button for three (3) full seconds will have the sensor send an alert to the PROA7PLUS System that it is enrolled with. Upon receiving the signal, the system will go into an alarm condition based on panel programming for the zone. An alarm signal will then be sent to the central station so that dispatch can be requested. Keep in mind that this type of set up will require an alarm monitoring plan with central station service. Remember to let your monitoring provider know how they should respond if a 24-hour auxiliary zone type is associated with the PROSIXMED for medical emergencies.
Since the PROSIXMED is water-resistant, you or your loved one can safely bring the device in the bath or shower. But remember that you should never fully submerge the device in liquid. It is advised that the user keep the PROSIXMED on their person at all times for quick access. The device comes with an accessory clip to make this easier. With this included clip, you or your loved one can wear the device as a wristband, belt clip, or lanyard. The button on the PROSIXMED has a tactile feel, which can make it easer for visually impaired users to identify it. There is also an LED light on the sensor that will light up to indicate that a signal transmission has been sent out. Green means that the device is working normally. Red means that the battery is low and in need of a replacement. The device uses a single lithium CR2450 coin battery for this purpose. Expected battery life is about five (5) years. If there is no LED, then that either means that the alert button was not held down long enough, or the battery is drained to the point that it can no longer send out signals.
Since there is only one (1) button on the PROSIXMED, you can only program one (1) function for the device. This will require a single PROSIX Zone on your Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS Alarm Panel. The PROSIXMED uses bi-directional communication and 128-bit AES encryption for optimal wireless security. Secret encryption keys are shared between the PROSIXMED and the PROA7PLUS Panel. Because of this, each PROSIXMED device can only be enrolled with one (1) PROA7PLUS System at any given time. The maximum wireless communication range between the PROSIXMED and the panel is more than 300 feet. Just remember that the actual communication range might be less if obstacles like thick walls and/or large metal objects are present. The PROSIXMED enrolls using its unique MAC Address, which acts as a sort of Serial Number for the sensor. We recommend auto-enrolling the MAC Address to ensure that the proper code is entered.
