Those needing a convenient Z-Wave Plus plug-in module can turn to the Qolsys IQ Smart Plug. This easy-to-use unit provides smart control for a connected device. It can safely provide up to 13 Amps of power, making it great for use with lamps, routers/modems, space heaters, and much more.
Virtually any Z-Wave hub will support the Qolsys IQ Smart Plug. This includes most alarm panels that use Z-Wave or Z-Wave Plus technology. It is recommended that you use a Z-Wave Plus hub with the IQ Smart Plug, as that will help ensure maximum wireless communication range. Many modern security systems will allow you to control connected Z-Wave devices locally at the panel or keypad. And if your system is monitored with a plan that includes automation, then you will be able to control connected devices remotely by using an interactive service platform like Alarm.com or Total Connect 2.0.
Using the Qolsys IQ Smart Plug is very easy. Simply plug it into an outlet, and enroll it with a Z-Wave network. The device has an inclusion/exclusion button that you must press three (3) times within 1.5 seconds to send an enrollment signal. Remember to exclude the device before pairing to wipe out any residual Z-Wave data. Residual data is often the result of a quality check that occurs at the factory during manufacture. You can then connect a device (up to 13 Amps) and use it with your smart home automation network. The Qolsys IQ Smart Plug has a multi-colored LED light that will assist you with enrollment and device troubleshooting. We recommend bringing the IQ Smart Plug right by the Z-Wave hub during enrollment. You can then move the device to its final location once it has been enrolled. The dimensions for the IQ Smart Plug are 43mm (1.6 Inches) x 43mm (1.6 Inches) x 45mm (1.7 Inches). It has an operating temperature of 32°F to 104°F, but it can be safely stored in temperatures ranging from 32°F to 140°F. Do not expose the Qolsys IQ Smart Plug to liquids, and do not expose it to extreme temperatures.
