How simple was installing the system yourself?
It was very easy. I had the AlarmGrid technician on the phone and he patiently talked me through the process. When it came to testing he was able to communicate with the system remotely and all was well. I had to wait on a part so he was even happy to drop the call and pick up again when the part arrived and retested the system.
Why did you pick Alarm Grid to monitor your system?
I picked Alarm Grid because their offering (supporting advanced DIY installation) seems to be unique. I could not find an alternative. Still AlarmGrid's monitoring prices are very competitive – so I get the best of both worlds.
Do you feel safer with Alarm Grid handling your monitoring?
Yes. I had a previous monitoring company (local) and their response was very sporadic and I felt that they could not be relied upon. So far AlarmGrid have been flawless – I am very pleased.
What did your self-install save you?
Difficult to estimate but it's a large house and it must run into thousands of dollars. Not just that, doing the install yourself means that you do not have to wait for technicians to turn up – you can do it when and however you like.
How did you use Alarm Grid's Resources?
Yes, I used this to spec my alarm panels and learn how to wire them up.
Have you had a security system before?
Yes, that system was actually very new but after repeated failures and downtime I asked that they come and take it out. I then out in my own AlarmGrid system and it has worked perfectly ever since.
Why would you recommend Alarm Grid to other people?
AlarmGrid in my experience do exactly what they say they will do and at no time was I pressured into anything or did I feel that the technicians were troubled by my questions (simple or difficult). I get to select and assemble the alarm components myself and I am not pressed into what the alarm company has in stock or wants to shift for some other reason.
Do you like Total Connect?
I have Total Connect. In fact I had it before but the previous alarm company installed incompatible equipment and then blamed Total Connect when it did not work as it should. The AlarmGrid install allowed me to fully utillize the latest and best version of Total Connect straight away. I am often away from home and love the fact that I can both see and operate the house from afar.
